Happy Poutine Week!

IF YOU’RE NOT familiar with the Canadian delicacy that is poutine, then, boy, are you missing out.

The concept is simple: chips topped with cheese curds and gravy.

And while it might not be to everyone’s taste, Canada sure is proud of its homegrown beige food. So much so that they are currently celebrating La Poutine Week and sharing frankly pornographic photos of all sorts of poutine.

Like…

1. This Mexican-style poutine topped with chicken and jalapeno peppers.

GET IN OUR BELLY.

2. This close-up shot that truly captures poutine in all its ooey-gooey glory.

We suddenly have a gravy craving.

3. Macaroni & cheese poutine — what a time to be alive!

4. *drools*

5. Ooh, fancy poutine — don’t mind if I do.

6. So artful, so photogenic.

7. Okay, this is basically NSFW.

Look at how it’s… dripping down the side.

8. POUTINE PIZZA, PRAISE THE LORD!

9. A poutine burger and a hefty pint. What more could you ask for?

10. *wipes tear from eye*

11. God bless you, Canada.

Love poutine, but I haven’t eaten it since the 1990′s. I do use Indian “Paneer” (type of fresh cheese), it’s quite similar and great in curries.

Had poutine once in Winnipeg and it was horrible so I’m sticking to the taco fries and curry chips.

Ah Niall – you must have missed last weeks Daily Edge report heralding the arrival of poutine in Dublin. Some Journal.ie staff seem a little obsessed with it at the moment … or if I was in a cynical mood I might call it subliminal advertising ;-). The Poutine link at the end of this screen will redirect you
