AENGUS ‘GUSSIE’ SHANAHAN was last seen on 11 February 2000 when he was enjoying a night out with friends.
Today, gardaí are again appealing for help in finding him.
‘Gussie’ is the youngest in a family of four and lived with his parents Bob and Nancy at Ashbrook on the Ennis Road in Limerick.
He had been working in Dell in Castletroy, Limerick.
When he finished work on Friday afternoon 11 February 2000, he went out with friends. When he did not return to work on Monday 14 February, his family reported him as a missing person to An Garda Siochana.
Gussie had gone to Coopers Bar in St Joseph Street with friends on that Friday.
Gussie was captured on CCTV leaving the pub wearing dark blue jeans, a blue top and a red, white and blue Adidas jacket and crossing the road towards his friend’s house.
However, he walked towards a laneway known locally as School Alley Lane.
He was never seen again.
He is described as being 5’10″, of thin build, around ten stone, of pale complexion with short fair hair.
Aengus’s family and gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen Gussie or have useful information and who have not been in contact previously, to do so now.
Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have seen Gussie on the Friday night or early the following morning to come forward, especially taxi drivers in the Limerick area.

I remember seeing Angus’ dad outside a shopping centre in Limerick alone with signs up asking if anyone had seen him a few months after he disappeared. After all the initial frenzy had died down. A heartbreaking sight. Such a lovely man. Such lovely and devoted parents. This child was raised with love and care. It’s beyond cruel that they are still living this torture every day, moving into their old age. If there is anyone out there that knows anything about this and if he / she have children that they love, they would not do this for a moment longer.
