The Burning Question*: Should men expect a present on Valentine's Day?

Let TheJournal.ie distract you from the ‘serious’ news with one of life’s REAL dilemmas. (*not really)

IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY tomorrow.

There’s no escaping it.

Restaurants will be booked-out, florists will be sold-out, and jewellers will be doing a roaring trade all day today as people snatch up last-minute gifts.

But should men expect to receive gifts from their wives and girlfriends today – or should all of the traffic be going in the other direction?

We had a (slightly) heated debate in the office – and there was no clear consensus.

So what do you think?

Obviously, other combinations of romantic couples are available in 21st century Ireland – but in one that’s 50% male and 50% female, what are the rules?

As always, tick a poll option here or join in the raging altercation in the comments section below.

Poll Results:

Men should get gifts too (7826)
Women only (2599)
No interest/no opinion (1690)
Bah, humbug (1323)

The comment about train crash happening under Trump presidency is nonsensical in my opinion.
Hope people injured are okay and especially hope it was caused by human error rather than intent to harm.
