Brooklyn scoops award for outstanding British film

The BAFTAs are taking place this evening in London.

BROOKLYN HAS BEEN named the best British picture at the British Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs).

The British-produced film starred Irish actress Saoirse Ronan and is based on the book by Irish author Colm Tóibín.

It documents the experience of an Irish emigrant moving to New York the 1950s.

It beat out competition from 45 Years, Amy, The Danish Girl, Ex Machina and The Lobster to scoop the top prize.

The ceremony is still ongoing, and so far Mad Max: Fury Road has won the prize for best makeup and hair, The Revenant has taken the prize for best cinematography and Amy has been named as best documentary.

The award ceremony is considered a strong precursor to the Oscars which are set to take place later this month.

@Mattress Dick: Was asked by an investor my thoughts. Having a degree in engineering with thermodynamics as a specialty told him to keep his money for drink. 2nd Law always prevails. Not the first one I debunked all with same premise, free lunches with energy.

Any basic understanding of the science told the story, it was just 21st century alchemy. But, then again, fools and their money are very easily parted and so it lasted a short but embarrassing while.
