SAMSUNG UNVEILED ITS new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones on Sunday during its MWC event in Barcelona,and we’re seeing the return of two fan-favorite features.
The Galaxy S7 is rated with “IP68″ dust and water-resistance, which means it can be submerged down to five feet underwater for up to 30 minutes.
That’s definitely good enough to protect the Galaxy S7 against accidental drops in the toilet or sink, rain, spills, and maybe even being pushed into the shallow end of the pool with your phone in your pocket.
The Galaxy S5 was Samsung’s last water-resistant phone, as Samsung ditched water resistance in the Galaxy S6 in favor of a sleek design.
Indeed, water-resistant materials meant the S5 was relatively bulky, and its charging port needed a water-resistant cover that many S5 owners complained would easily break off. As a result of breaking the charging port cover, the S5 was no longer water-resistant.
But Samsung seems to have figured out a way to keep the S7 water-resistant with a sleek design and without a flimsy charging port cover. We shot water directly into the S7′s charging port without damaging the phone at all.
The microSD card slot for expandable storage is back in the Galaxy S7 after Samsung removed it in the Galaxy S6.
Expandable storage lets users store more pictures, videos, and music while keeping a phone’s built-in storage open for more apps.
After making plastic phones while the competition moved on to premium materials, like glass and metal, Samsung was pressured to also make a phone with premium materials. And so it designed the S6 with glass and metal. The S6 was beautiful as a result, but it meant the back couldn’t be removed to give users access to a microSD card slot.
Samsung incorporated the microSD card slot into the SIM card tray instead of its usual place behind a removable back cover. You can add up to 200 GB of extra storage.

I,m not a apple fanboy or anything but I’ve noticed over the years with all the phones I’ve had its so much easier to sell a second hand iPhone rather than any other phone I’ve ever had! Recently I tried to sell my old galaxy s4 and my son’s iPhone 4s and I put them on a Irish selling page on face book and I got about 100 enquiries for the iPhone and 2 for the galaxy and I sold the iPhone within a few hours and the galaxy is still for sale weeks later…
I’ll give you 50 for it ;)

Don’t worry I’m guessing your an apple fan, so in a few months apple will copy all these features and claim they invented them and will sue anyone that says otherwise. Price will be double though but it will haves nice shiny apple logo.
Nice phone but don’t delude yourselves – it’s as much a high-end premium smartphone as the latest iPhone and costs just as much.
They won’t copy all the features Dave, they will never offer expandable memory. No money to be gouged from offering choice.

Samsung have no ingenuity at all, they just copy their competitors advantages and mash it all together half asses into their latest release.
Any phone article you there insulting people having a preference for Apple phones. I never understand people who take time outta their day to this . I have a S6 edge which cost more than iPhone 6s now and had terrible resale value vs retail price .
iPhone 6s is a beautiful phone and this S7 edge unfortunately won’t do anything to change the balance of power between Apple and Samsung . If anything I think Samsung will fall further behind .

Your argument is amazing mate. People will rarely be swayed to one or the other. I’ll prob always stick with Apple because of the design plus I’ll never ever go back to windows again so it makes sense.
Jay you are clueless! Apple will be using Samsung processors in their next iphone! Also Galaxy S5 can record 4k… only now has apple included this and shows it off like it’s something new
Should never have taken sd card slot out in the first place.
Love my s5 but miss the built in radio that was on my s3. When out the radio aps use your data.
Miss ‘me wireless’ also. Have aNote 3 but bring the S3 for radio usage.
Couldn’t agree more! I was gutted when they took it out, and i wouldn’t mind the radio antenna is literally tiny. As thick as a stamp and half the width.. its not like they couldn’t have fitted it in.
I have a Samsung and love it but why are the screens so expensive to replace. My S5 is going to cost €120 where I see u can get iPhone fixed for 60 -70 in places….
Get an otter box. Well worth the 25 euro
They are great, of you don’t mind carrying a brief case round in your pocket !
They are far better quality screens, more sensitive digitizers and generally higher res than iphones.

Vodafone smart ultra 6 is the best phone ive bought, does everything i need that a top of the line would do but i dont have to fork €700 for it

Sorry john it’s a an horrible phone. Very cheap feel and full of filler specs than don’t live up to every day use. You definitely get what you pay for this
My 16yo bought one out of his own money and is thrilled with it. He knows he will never get high end Apple or Samsung until he can get his own bank loans. This phone is a huge hit with the students.

As someone who returned a OP2 because of a fault within days of receipt, I can say that all that glitters isn’t gold. Also, OP have pretty poor customer service in my opinion.
I wll be sticking with Huawei for another while. The P8 is a brilliant piece of phone.

Having the phone waterproof and dust proof is not a deal breaker for me I’m happy with the S6 Edge 16mp camera as opposed to S7 with 12mp. Samsung also released that were reducing the cost of S6 S6 Edge by £100stlg to bring the S7 in line with the S6 original start price, incidentally IPhone 5sc will launch before rumoured IPhone 7. IP 7 is to have most features that S7 has except things like Bluetooth earbuds duel speakers.

The S7 has a small megapixel camera but a superior sensor. It will take better photos in general and especially in low light conditions.
Had an S4 before the S5, skipped the S6, going to buy S7. I must add Samsungs S5 has lasted me 1.5 years up until last week and guest what? Its the battery cover falling off that made the charging port unresponsive. I now take the battery out and charge with a universal external battery charger. I will wait for a free upgrade with AT&T S7 edge when they become available. Looking forward to having many years of S7 fun! ☺
AT&T? You’re a bit far from home.. just be careful with the US variants, quite often they are lower spec than the international models.
