This weekend will be 'much colder than normal'

Hooray.

IF YOU’RE OF the belief that spring starts at the beginning of either February or March, this weekend will do little to strengthen your argument.

While today will be cold, frosty and foggy, the weekend will continue to be cold, Met Éireann says.

It will be dry today, with temperatures hitting highs of seven degrees.

That will dip tonight as it becomes much colder, with lows of minus four.

Tomorrow will be much the same, while Friday will see rain and showers.

The weekend, however, will see temperatures plummet.

It will remain cold and wintry over the weekend with both Saturday and Sunday seeing temperatures well below normal for this time of year. Night frosts will be widespread and severe and winds will be mainly light or moderate and from a north or northeasterly direction, however, overall the weather will be mainly fair or sunny with just isolated wintry showers on northern or eastern coasts.

Beyond that, it will become slightly warmer, but with more rain.

We don’t have seasons in Ireland. The cold rain just slowly gives way to the warmer rain.

What’s with all the wusses who spend ages laboriously scraping their car windows with a piece of plastic because they’re afraid they’ll make the kettle of water too hot? That’s no way to live.

I hope the rain doesn’t suppress turnout. The govt parties would benefit from that
