THE MAN WHO raped and killed Irish woman Jill Meagher in Melbourne has begun his appeal against two other rape convictions.
Adrian Bayley was sentenced to life in prison for the 2012 murder of the Louth woman and prevented from applying for parole for at least 35 years.
He was convicted of three further rapes following that decision, adding 18 years onto his sentence and increasing his non-parole period to 43 years.
Bayley successfully appealed last year to re-apply for legal aid after his initial request for legal representation was rejected.
But he was told earlier this week that his second application for a lawyer had been refused, according to ABC News.
Meagher, who worked at a local ABC radio station after moving to Australia in 2009, disappeared in the early hours of 22 September 2012 as she walked home from a bar close to her Melbourne home.
Her body was discovered five days later in a shallow grave outside the city.
Bayley was subsequently found guilty of raping an 18-year-old sex worker in 2000, a Dutch backpacker in 2012 and a 25-year-old sex worker in that same year.
He is now appealing his sentence in two of those three cases.

It can actually be increased at the appeal but I imagine his too dumb to understand that
in cases like this I don’t see why they don’t just execute him, but on the other hand that is Letting him off lightly maybe let him rot then execute him.
Jail time to be cut? The only tjing that needs to be cut is his genitals

i dont agree with the torture thing, but death by using a certain unnamed gas will cause a painless and quick enough death. He should be executed, as should the dirt who raped that indian girl and set her on fire, i cant even bring myself to look at that article. Anyone who does stuff like this needs to be executed.
Richard the answer to your question is that the last person executed in Australia was hanged during an election campaign for political purposes, turned out to be innocent. So they won’t be going there again.
Plus executions are more expensive than life in prison. In the USA it costs $25 million to execute someone and just over $1 million keep them in prison for life

The only reason I am against the death penalty is because innocent people have been sentenced to death. However, if it is proven beyond doubt the person is guilty of a heinous rape/murder then strung them up. I don’t think executions should be left up to prison guards/doctors though. If you agree with the death penalty you should register to take part in them like juror duty etc.
