Man arrested after early morning shooting in Tyrone

A 33-year-old man was shot in the foot.

A 57-YEAR-OLD MAN has been arrested following a shooting that occurred in Co Tyrone early this morning.

The incident took place in the Queens Avenue area of Cookstown.

Shortly after 3.25am police received a report that a 33-year-old man had been shot in his left foot.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “Police attended and a car and suspected firearm have been recovered. The 57-year-old man currently remains in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.”

Tate urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about it to contact detectives at Cookstown Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
