IN 2016, EVERYTHING is being remade.
Now, even one of the greatest films ever released is getting the Hollywood remake treatment.
Jack Huston stars in Timur Bekmambetov’s remake of Ben Hur, the story of a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother, an officer in the Roman army.
After years at sea, he returns to fight his brother and take him on in a chariot race.
Expect swords, sandals and… Morgan Freeman?

Ah here…. If it ain’t broke why fix it! The original will always be the best. This remake snacks of just another gladiator type movie. I bet the remake will not capture the atmosphere of the original.
The one with Charlton Heston was not the Original. It was a remake as well.

Thousands of new books released every month. I imagine there are as many brand new scripts written too. Apart from Star Wars and Mad Max, The Oscars this year highlighted some fantastic, original storytelling. There is no need to regurgitate old movies that were done right the first time around.
Ben Hur was originally a book, then a stage play, then a film in the 1920′s then a remake with Charlton Heston in 1959/60.

As another commentator posted with all the new books, scripts out each month why do a remake ? Film makers afraid to take a chance ,A remake of a remake ,Ben Hur the chariot race is epic .always liked the arab who owned the horses as he knew each horses personality and seemed very witty when dealing with the Romans

Pointless, brainless, shallow, badly cast, CGI garbage. Can’t wait.
This role calls for a more worldly, experienced man not just a handsome man to bring character. Sadly it seems Hollywood are now doing the same to men as they have to women. No one exists over the age of 30!
And is Jack Heston any relation of Charlton Heston..

Is there any such thing as an original idea in Hollywood anymore or is it just what allows the CEO get his bonus and keep the shares at a high price ,if anything I think we are regressing as a species.
Some things should be left alone. Let’s remake the Mona Lisa while we are at it or the book of Kells etc
Unrelated but Secret of Kells really is good for what it does, directly remaking it, ehh….
