A stark contrast to the two tier farce we witnessed earlier. The exact opposite of the spirit of the proclamation of our republic.

If you were watching it on TV did you notice the soldier laughing and chatting on his mobile phone when the President was meeting and greeting only meters away. – a bit disrespectful I thought, given the formality and weight of the occasion.

An elitist approach to the Centenary.
People would rather be there to witness the event than listen to RTE ‘Celebs’ blathering on about it.
I went over to Cloughjordan, the birthplace of Thomas McDonagh for the remembrance.
The ordinary plebs were allowed attend.

”He shall not hear the bittern cry
In the wild sky where he is lain,
Nor voices of the sweeter birds
Above the wailing of the rain…

But when the Dark Cow leaves the moor
And pastures poor with greedy weeds,
