THIS FOOTAGE SHOWS how potholes can be a real source of frustration for motorists and can damage cars.
Shot on Monday night near Dublin Port, across the road from the 3 Arena on the approach to the East-Link bridge, the video shows cars driving into a massive pothole on the road.
It’s not until cars actually start driving into the hole that it becomes visible. Some approach slowly but other cars hit the bump at speed:
Linda Byrne, who sent the video in, said that the pothole had destroyed her husband’s tyres.
“While we photographed and videoed there were four more drivers who ripped their tyres,” said Linda.
Ours will cost €300 to replace plus any other damage that was done.
Please help publish this, it shouldn’t be the first thing tourists coming off the docks should experience.
We headed down to the spot this morning to see if the pothole was still there, but it looks like Dublin City Council has filled it over:

This pothole was reported to road maintenance services on Monday, 11 April 2016. Following this report the roads maintenance incident response unit was mobilised and they made the site safe and carried out a temporary repair. A permanent repair was completed on Tuesday, 12 April 2016.

Richard that’s a particularly ignorant statement because you know very well that the Dail only fulfills the purpose of enacting legislation and all Dail Deputies from all Parties spend the vast majority of their time in dealing with their Constituents and other matters of equal importance such as Dail appointed Committees which meet throughout the Summer.

I would love to take 3 or 4 months off every year to “work” in my garden, but that’s not what my employers pay me for. This is essentially what our TD’s do every year while we continue to pay them.

A wealth tax is one of those ideas that sounds great in theory, but would be a failure for this country in practice. It would kill off any recovery. Look at Hollande’s proposed increases on taxes in France which have seen many French companies announce plans to move to London or elsewhere to avoid the increases.

Seamus name one country where a “wealth tax” has helped the situation. The fact is that the problems are not with people being rich. The problem is in a system where the success of a relative few can come directly from the suffering of others.
There needs to be a separation of concerns between our economy and our society. It is not impossible to have a thriving capitalist driven economy supporting a socially minded community. It’s just that it’s difficult to convince those who are benefiting from the status-quo that it needs to change.

I didn’t think the taoiseach’s statement of yesterday about when people speak they use words would be matched for a least a few weeks, but looking at that video he can’t read scripts in front of him very well either. With tax-payer money at his disposal the video is a shambles as well. Much like the government so far.
I’d tell him to hand the reins over to someone with the skills but alas there isn’t anyone really. It is embarrassing.

Approximately six per cent of any population have the personality type, described as submissive authoritarians. These types, along with other more sinister personality types, can prove to be extremely dangerous, if they aspire to, and achieve positions of power. The reason these personality types can be so dangerous, is that they have an almost addictive need to be accepted by their peers, regardless of the negative consequences for anybody else. I’m not suggesting that Mr Kenny is one of these types, because that would be legally potentially libellous, and ethically irresponsible. What I am saying, is that there must be some of these types in government, who are prepared to roll over so easily to appease their peers, when those decisions fly in the face of their pre election promises. The theory behind these personality types forming, is that they have unresolved anger issues stemming from childhood. Strange but true.
