Break out the shades - today is set to be a scorcher

For April anyway. Temperatures are set to reach 17 degrees in places this afternoon.

IRISH WEATHER IS nothing if not changeable, but things are most certainly looking up. For the next few days anyway.

We’re set for a day of clear skies and unseasonably high temperatures today – as high as 17 degrees in certain areas.

13 degrees Celsius is about the average countrywide for this time of year – so enjoy it while it lasts.

“Today is going to be a good day,” a Met Éireann spokesperson said.

The best temperatures will be over Connacht and north Munster, as high as 17 degrees.

It won’t be quite so warm lower down the east coast, a few degrees lower, while it will be breezy in the south. It’s going to be dry everywhere with widespread sunshine.

Lovely.

Unfortunately, in the words of the spokesperson, “it isn’t going to last”. Sure when does it ever says you.

“Tomorrow’s temperatures will be similar, although it’ll be a bit cloudy over Leinster and in the south-west. The north-west will get lots of sunshine though,” she said.

But on Friday there will be rain to the south and in Ulster.

And the weekend?

It will be cold again countrywide over the weekend.

Nuts. Still though, check out that beautiful rainfall radar:

Get out there and enjoy it while you can folks.

    17. But still not scorching. I’d want at least mid 20s for scorchery.

Compared to what it has been, yes it is a scorer. I will be sweltering in my portacabin with no air con and then putting on my heavy coat to go home!!!

Was hot yesterday. First time in about seven months had to open the car windows. Imagine, Ireland, it’s nearly summer and we’re commenting on 13degree weather being a wonderful change. From now on there will be shorts, sandals, scrappy tops and bad colds.
