Watch: Britain's biggest royal fans count down to the Queen's birthday

“I’ll just say a few words as I give her flowers and a card.”

QUEEN ELIZABETH II is turning 90 tomorrow, and it is probably fair to say that fans of the British monarchy are excited for the celebration.

Margaret Tyler, whose home is packed with thousands of royal memorabilia items, has been following the Windsors since childhood.

Terry Hutt was one of the super-fans who camped in a Union Jack outfit outside the London hospital where Kate Middleton gave birth in 2013 and 2015.

Town crier Tony Appleton takes pride in roaring proclamations at major royal occasions, which he turns up to despite having no official association with the throne.

His plan for tomorrow? “I shall be going to Windsor with two of my other criers and we shall be going up and down the streets singing and shouting: ‘Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! Happy Birthday, your Majesty, today. God save the Queen!’”

(Not a fan of the monarchy? Sickened by hereditary privilege? Turn away now.)

I know a handful of Irish people who are just as obsessed as some of the people in that video – well, maybe not exactly the same level as these, but still quite obsessed.

That makes even less sense to me.

What are you on about, Ger? Are you featured in the video above? Did I hit a nerve?

What I was saying, was that I personally know some Irish people who are obsessed with the Queen. Super fans, like those featured in the video. And I find it strange due to the history of imperialism between Ireland and the UK.

I do not support or follow the British monarchy and whilst I was growing up there could never understand the obsession a lot of English people have with them, to me they are leeches, who put on a jolly good show for the serfs entertainment. They wave and smile all the time looking down their noses at Joe public and they contribute nothing to society.

Harry I’ll take it from your first name, surname and reference to a megalomaniac named Elizabeth as HM that you are in fact British.

It’s not an unsafe assumption then that you were educated in Britain or at least influenced by British parents or family.

That being the case I’ll put it this way. If Germany had have won the war, we wouldn’t have known about the ovens or chambers just as you probably don’t know much about the 800+ years of occupation involving but not limited to summarily executing my people for speaking Our native language in order to stamp it out. Or the giant concentration camp that was my country during the “famine”. That’s the one where Elizabeth’s grandparents forced my people to grow food for her people with the hope that starvation would be a solution to the Irish question. The official British apology from Toby Blair was, “we should have done more to help our neighbors”.

Its actually not unlike Joeseph Fritzl saying, I should have recognised those squatters in my basement were in need of being released.

Very nice Killian. Unfortunately you still haven’t answered my question. What genocide did HM commit? We’re not talking about her grandparents, we’re talking about her. HM hadn’t been born when the Easter Rising took place, or even when the Anglo-Irish War had ended, let alone the Hunger.

And if you’re going to attribute blame for the Hunger, it wouldn’t even have been her grandparents you should be blaming – the blame for that lands squarely upon the shoulders of our (elected) Parliament and Anglo-Irish landlords. The Crown hasn’t had direct power for, er, hundreds of years.

At the top of every pyramid there’s point, that family were and are, it. It’s like saying again that Hitter has plausible deniability. They’ve never had to apologise because they can hide behind control of the story and the best of all allies, time.

I love the English, now that their soldiers and patrolling our roads and pointing rifles at us (I grew up in Derry) I’ve made a frequent habit of getting to know all parts of England it’s lovely (for the most part) variety of people. Our countries figured out something none two other have. That living in peace and getting to know one another works a lot better.

But, this has been largely a one sided accord. We’ve made pretty much all the effort and England maintain control of the story.

This seems to me because yet again, these mad megalomaniacs must maintain the air of some kind of divinity on earth. Suckling out of the people.

I’m fond of those two lads William and Harry but in reality if any other family in England lived off of the state in such a prolific fashion and popped out sprig gets left right and centre they’d end up on the Jeremy Kyle show.

I’m saying. Yee need to just accept it and learn more about us. We’ll get along way better.

“The Queen’s consent is necessary to turn any bill into an actual law. ”

HM merely rubber-stamps what our Parliament decides. If she didn’t, there would be a major constitutional crisis quicker than you could say ‘revolution’. Constitutional monarchies are known as ‘crowned republics’ for a reason.

“As the head of state in Australia, the Queen has certain powers over the government. In 1975, for example, the Queen’s representative in the country at the time, Gov. Gen. Sir John Kerr, fired the prime minister in response to a government shutdown.”

You neglected to mention that Kerr dismissed Gough Whitlam and appointed a caretaker PM after being called upon to do so by the (elected) Opposition in order to break a stalemate in the Australian Parliament – a purely domestic issue, absolutely nothing to do with HM or even the British Parliament.

As for Kerr himself, who exactly appointed him in the first place? Err…Gough Whitlam. Whoops.

The Australian Crown and the British Crown are two completely separate institutions. In Australia, HM is the Queen of Australia, not Britain.

The monarch is supposed to sign whatever the (in Gough Witlam’s case, Australian) government puts in front of them. John Kerr appointed by Australian PM, acting on behalf of Australian Parliament, no input from HM other than rubber-stamping. What was she going to do, say no?

There you go again, dismissing how people feel. Those experiences are real for the people involved. Which is typical of your lack of insight . Which again comes down to poor education. 12 years ago I went for an interview here, and spent 20 minutes being insulted by a middle aged English man. Who subsequently ran when my father in law came in after him. Who btw is from Oldham in the UK.

I stated fact earlier in relation to your educational system which is abysmal btw. That is why thousands move to Ireland to avail of our system. Furthermore, only for the Irish you wouldn’t have an education system. It was Irish Monks that brought religion and education to your shores after the Romans left.

You couldnt handle that and threw out the dummy and started calling me a strawman. In future , do some research in an attempt to refute my post. Because it makes you look cheap otherwise. That fact came from a uni lecturer in queens who is a member of the orange order. He took the time to learn our history. As a result he understood us and was able to empathise.

Your lack of education in our history is the root cause of the lack of empathy ye show to our suffering. The Irish times alluded to that point a few weeks ago, when an Irish person spent time in London and found a complete lack of knowledge when it came to Ireland. Very quick to call us terrorists. Without any apparent knowledge of terrorist acts commited in Ireland.

All above are examples of Irish Discrimination in England. Yet nothing can be found in regards to abuse the English endure in Ireland. Why ?? . Are you even able to answer that.

Over here the English and Irish do not mix. We have extended our hand of friendship on many occasions only for it to be bitten off. Example, local scooter club, called the crusaders. Whose members were predominately English. I had to resign within six months because of a constant barrrage of anti Irish abuse. Dressed up, as banter.

The point is, your ilk are not ready mentally to move on and look to the future. In order to do that you have to understand the past and learn from it. Example .http://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/generation-emigration/it-is-unrealistic-to-expect-the-english-to-remember-1916-1.2607711
