If you get the Luas, you need alternative plans tomorrow

Transdev this week walked out of talks in which drivers asked for a 26.5% pay increase.

LUAS DRIVERS WILL strike again tomorrow, meaning travel disruption for tens of thousands of Dubliners.

Trade union Siptu had agreed to postpone an action for last weekend to facilitate more talks between drivers and operator Transdev. However, tomorrow’s action is still set to go ahead.

Transdev this week walked out of talks in which drivers asked for a 26.5% pay increase. Three non-driver grades at the company have agreed to pay increases of 13%.

Further work stoppages are still planned for 28 April, 4 May, 13 May, 20 May, 26 May and 27 May.

Last night, Transdev said it would begin to dock drivers’ pay if the strikes continued.

Siptu organiser Owen Reidy called that move “provocative and unprecedented”.

“Our members have compromised and modified their position.

“They have made a logical point that having rejected the previous Workplace Relations Commission proposals by 99% they require some improvement in such proposals to resolve the dispute and this progressive attitude has been met with an ‘over the top’ response from the company.”

Transdev MD Gerry Madden last night apologised to customers and called on the union to re-engage in talks.

No such database exists outside HIPE, it would be in breach of the data protection act. He had craniotomy so performed which is about the most frequent op the Neurosurgeons do. They’d probably have to do a chart trawl unless the characteristics of the case ring some bells locally. They’ve probably asked in Beaumont and Cork.

No database I’m afraid. Every patient registry in Ireland needs an individual act of the Oireachteas, that was established when the national cancer registry was created. The could do an individual chart check but it would take forever. More sensible to release details to the general public and see what turns up.

There are less than ten neurologists in this country, of them only a couple would do an operation like this guy had and they would remember doing an op like the one this guy had.

Sorry, they probably do a craniotomy on the majority of cases they see, it’s just a hole in the skull. I’m sure they’ve checked with Beaumont. There are actually closer to 25 neurologists in the country, but they don’t do craniotomies, Neurosurgeons do. There are 7 or 8 of them in Beaumont but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t remember an individual case they did a few years ago.

    Tony
An appalling murder that ended the life of a young man provides you with a platform to make a sick joke about the body being that of the Taoiseach. At first I just thought you suffered from a complete absence of any social filter but now I’m convinced your intellectual development suffered an irreversible collapse some time ago!

    Richard
Common sense would suggest that somebody who is found in a rubbish dump was no pillar of society by any stretch of the imagination. My social filter and intellectual development however remain intact although one must add that the Taoiseach and his army of baboons are presently working hard to change that.

Richard is correct about it being an appalling murder, and the deceased deserves more respect than Tony’s comment indicates. Of course Richard ignored earlier disrespectful comments that made light of this murder, choosing only to comment on a wry observation that Kenny has a few screws loose, which leads me to think Richards moral compass only points to Enda.
Tony, you should reflect on what you said in light of the mother and baby home scandal where innocents were interred in cess pits.
