SPANISH POLICE ARE investigating reports that an Irish teenager was sexually assaulted while on holiday with her family in Tenerife.
The incident happened on Thursday of last week in the region of Playa de las Américas, a holiday resort in the region of Arona, Canary Island newspaper El Día is reporting.
The assault is believed to have happened when she became separated from a family member who had been accompanying her, and was allegedly carried out by a caucasian male.
After the incident she was taken to a hospital in the south of the island where her injuries were assessed.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that it does not comment on incidents of this nature.

I wish people would be mindful that this is a thirteen year old child who became separated from her parents and was raped , it must be a nightmare for this family.
She’s 13??? Oh no, I know it probably shouldn’t matter, a crime is a crime, but I didn’t realise she was a child.
Sympathy for the girl and hopefully some practical support and help to her and her family will be forthcoming.
