Body of Irishman found in Turkey

It is reported that the body was found with a single stab wound.

AN IRISH MAN has been found dead in Turkey with a stab wound in his back, according to local media reports.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Irishman who died in Turkey.

According to Voices Newspaper, an English language paper based in Didim in Turkey, the body of a Irishman was found in Bodrum in the southwestern Aegean region of Turkey.

The newspaper says that the body of the 64-year-old man was found in an apartment with a stab wound to his back at 2pm yesterday.

It is reported that a knife was found by the man’s neighbours in front of the apartment complex and that they notified police.

The man had reportedly arrived in the district 20 days ago and was renting an apartment in the popular tourist resort town.

An investigation has been launched into the death.

A Turkish media outlet identified him last night, before friends and family knew. Some of the commenters on here, myself included, knew him.
