Apple may get rid of one of the iPhone's most annoying limitations

Apple will likely increase the minimum storage space offered on the iPhone from 16GB to 32GB.

AS POPULAR AS THEY are, one of the biggest criticisms about the iPhone is the minimum amount of storage space it offers.

16GB has quickly become insufficient for devices that now include large apps, games, high-quality 4K video, photos and other content for offline use.

Now it looks like the minimum storage space offered will rise to 32GB for the next iPhone, according to the Wall Street Journal. It also said that a 256GB model could be offered as well.

Current models of the iPhone have used 16GB as the base model with 64GB and 128GB versions offered too. Many go for the base 16GB version as it’s the cheapest but that and the lack of an expandable storage feature means running out of space is a common occurrence.

Despite it being another three months before it’s announced, the rumours surrounding Apple’s next iPhone continue to swirl.

The most prominent rumour is how it will ditch the headphone jack and instead plug earbuds into the Lightning port. It’s rumoured that a major refresh won’t happen until 2017 while the next iPhone will use a similar design to the 6 and 6s.

Back in April, Apple saw both iPhone sales and revenue decline having warned about it at the start of the year. To help reverse it, it launched the smaller iPhone SE in March with its company executives saying the demand for it was “very strong”.
