POLICE IN THE UK are warning people not to approach a lynx which broke loose from Dartmoor Zoo in Devon.
The wild cat, named Flaviu, managed to escape by chewing through a board in the wall of his new home. Prior to this, the enclosure had successfully held Lynx for eight years.
A police helicopter has joined the extensive search for the animal.

The two-year-old from Port Lympne only arrived from Kent yesterday and was settled into his new house at 7.30pm.
It was only when keepers came to release him at 10am this morning that it was discovered he had escaped.

In a statement Dartmoor Zoo said, “Search teams are being organised for the local area and we have humane traps which we will be laying out in the vicinity.
These are of ample size to fit a Lynx and will not hurt him. They will contain various types of meat from specialist suppliers to tempt him and the door will then close behind him, trapping him unharmed where he can safely be returned to the Zoo.

Only the Iberian Lynx was ever endangered, bobcats in the us are plentiful and so are Eurasian lynx. In some places like Britain it was nature changes after the last ice age that led to their demise while in countries like Holland it was Human intervention.
That’s not true at all. There is a healthy natural population in North America. Fortunately for the animal, it is nocturnal and stealth. Probably why it’s not endangered

Capture should be fairly easy, just put out a big cardboard box, and the sort out the cats that aren’t a lynx
I’d be boarding up the house and not going outdoors until he’s captured!
They’re no bigger than a large dog, doubt they’d be a danger to anyone other than small children.
So if you’re confronted by one throw a small child at it.

Lynx’s aren’t really dangerous.
About the same as a fox sized cat. I’d say capture would be more for it’s own safety, I doubt it learned how to kill properly in the zoo.

I used to live in the Yukon where lynx are native. Good luck with finding it! Mind you, they do taste nice! I had a leg of lynx from an old fur trapper once – like a really nice chicken.
Use the lynx effect. Just follow all the women who flock to the scent of lynx.
Sky news are reporting that the Lynx has been spotted on the train to London.
