A MAN THREW banknotes to people in a shopping centre in Derry earlier this week.
The Derry Journal reported that “he threw a mixture of £10 and £20 notes from the first floor on to shoppers below”.
Police have examined the money and said it was genuine.
The identity of the man is not known but police have stated that no crime was committed.

I remember reading a story like that in England once. Some guy withdrew £5000 in £5 notes and threw them onto pedestrians on a crossing from an overpass. He was suffering from manic depression & just wanted to make people happy. Bless the good intention.

Actually I’ve given 50 quid plus to homeless ppl when I’ve been flush I.e monthly wages. Also one Xmas gave a chap 500 who was sitting on the H’appenny Xmas eve. I was going home to an empty house so it helped me. Maybe I was selfish. Bit of both really. Helping them and helping me.

Ah not at all. I felt lonely. He I assume felt lonely. I got locked that night and slept. Stayed in my pjs. We both won :)

He isn’t well. I know who it is and he’s suffering from a mental illness. He thought he was doing a good thing, which there is no doubting, but it was to his own detriment. Luckily a few of the people had the decency to hand some of the money back to the police where it can be looked after til he’s over this episode.
