Aaron Sorkin 'strongly considering' writing Steve Jobs film

The screenwriter behind ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The West Wing’ has been asked to write the script for the film version of the Apple founder’s biography.

OSCAR-WINNING SCREENWRITER Aaron Sorkin has said he is “strongly considering” writing the film about Steve Jobs based on the Apple founder’s biography.

Movie studio Sony has asked the 50-year-old to write the script, according to E Online.

“Right now I’m just in the thinking-about-it stages,” said the writer. “It’s a really big movie and it’s going to be a great movie no matter who writes it”.

Sorkin added that he is currently reading Walter Isaacson’s biography of the Apple founder.

“He was a great entrepreneur, he was a great artist, a great thinker,” Sorkin said of Jobs, who died last month.

Isaacson’s book, entitled Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography, was published just 19 days after Jobs died from pancreatic cancer. The book was based on over 40 interviews the author conducted with Jobs over two years.

Sorkin, the creator of The West Wing and writer of Charlie Wilson’s War, A Few Good Men, and the upcoming Moneyball, won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar earlier this year for his work on The Social Network.

However, the idea now that in this day and age that police are unarmed – and even more so since the events in Paris on Friday – is just beyond belief and out of date. I would go so far as to say it is negligence.

Eugene, ‘His training kicked in’……really? He chased an armed robber which, while it shows an enormous amount of courage, it also shows a lack of judgement. He could have stayed in pursuit from a distance while calling for armed response. I disagree with the awarding of compo as he is in a line of work where it may happen.
Before you go gobbing off, the first time I had a weapon pointed directly at my face, from a distance of 2 metres, was when I was 19 and serving in former Yugoslavia. I’ve had a few more incidents since then and it’s never crossed my mind to claim compo. You sign up knowing what the job entails, you take the wage in good times, and bad!
Now, regarding PTSD, I would never dispute someone saying they have it because it can affect anyone, even rear echelon staff who have to deal with trauma victims etc. But, aside from providing complete and continued support and assistance where needed, giving a payout sends the wrong signal.

two robbers, who were later charged and sentenced to five years each, with three years suspended.
Unbelievable, armed robbery of a shop, assault on Gardai, if any Irish person did the same we’d be lucky to get only five years, none of which would be suspended.

Just getting into the mindset of most of those commenting on here Marty it’s all them seem to understand. If someone comments sensibly and respectfully then j respond in kind, when some random stranger decides to insult me because he doesn’t agree with my opinion then again I will respond in kind as its all they se to understand. With me now?

No need to worry about it Nikki. I’ve just reported the comments as I find them offensive and totally unnecessary. I didn’t see anyone referring to your genitalia, but you stay classy and don’t change just to appear civil like most folk here.

Good man Marty. Apologies if the human body offends you. Your probably of the mindset of a woman wears a skirt “she is asking for it”. Enjoy your evening.

On the contrary Mrs Freud; it’s not me who is offended by male the human body but you clearly have a few issues with it yourself. I just tend to find most personal abuse offensive. Must have something to do with the way I was reared. Judging by your earlier comments I think most people here could draw a fair conclusion as to your own ‘mindset’. ‘With me’? Have a very nice evening.

They need to look again at these sentences . Anyone caught with a loaded gun and aiming to shoot anyone never mind a guard should get 20 years automatic sentence and 25 years for aiming at a guard .no suspended sentence and then barred from the country once they finish 20 years and should be hard labour. They also need to find if these sc um have any prior I do DNA test on them and check with Lithuania I am sure this is t the first time they have done this and the Lithuanians might be happy to get them back for other crimes committed there . The same applies for the local sc um as well who brandish guns.

My father had a shotgun put to his head when he worked for. Securicor a few years back and got a month off with pay. No. Compensation, and he didn’t go looking for. It either.

It’s hardly comparable to €50,000, plus, he didn’t ask for the month off, it was mandatory. My point was he was doing his job too.

The month off was mandatory. He didn’t actually ask or go looking for it. My point was he was doing his job too, but he didn’t feel the need to claim compo.

It’s nobody’s job to have a gun pointed at them, unless your in the army. So unless your trained for it, or it’d written in job description it’s not your job! Again fair play to him, hopefully it didn’t effect him, but this seems to have effected the garda…the mandatory month off is quite clever from your dad’s job as it probably adds guilt to any person who wishes to make a claim from there.

if you assault a guard or a child, it should be minimum 15 years…..oh and that includes if you had no previous convictions. cause people only seem to get 15 years after getting 64 convictions these days
