Genuinely the end of an era in Irish broadcasting history. We all grew up watching or listening to him at some point. RIP.

I still miss his morning radio show.
I still miss him presenting the Late Late Show.
He read a listeners letter so eloquently and presented a show with such professionalism. A far cry from the slap stick rehearsed interviews we have to suffer today.

I remember, watching live, when he rang a woman who was a competition winner, who said she hadn’t been watching the show as her daughter, who had sent in the entry, had died the previous day. These days it would go viral.

Certainly would not have agreed with certain aspects of Gays political stance. In saying that as a presenter and host of Lyric fm there is no one who could hold you attention like he could. R.I.P.

R.I.P. Made it look easy. I have many painful memories of watching The Late Late as a teenager in the early 80s in the company of my parents, as certain taboo topics were debated. Sweet Jesus the embarrassment, screaming at him to stop . Great memories

There are many out there who didn’t like him as well, but who are people talking about, his broadcast persona or his personal persona as people can confuse both of them. But in the end it was his life, his decisions. I just feel there are too many in the public that are using his popularity in order to promote themselves with the public than to be human and I hate this with so called celebrity. The only thing that matters now is the grief his passing has caused and once his life was good and happy then what else can anyone wish for him then?
