1. #HOUSING REPORT: The government has unveiled its long-anticipated housing plan. It includes a plan to spend over €5 billion on social housing over the next five years. Hotels will only be used in limited circumstances to provide accommodation for homeless families from next year, the Taoiseach is pledging.

2. #ROAD DEATH: A woman has sustained stab wounds in her home this morning shortly before her three-year old son and her ex-partner were killed in a road collision, gardaí have said.

3. #OLYMPICS: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has promised to enforce the “toughest sanctions available” against Russia following allegations of widespread State-run doping among its athletes. The IOC is also exploring legal options before deciding whether or not to ban Russian athletes from the Rio Olympics.

4. #CHANNEL 4: The journalist who was criticised by a former Sun editor for wearing a hijab while presenting the Channel 4 news, Fatima Manji, has said his words “won’t stop me from doing my job”. The paper came under fire over the column, by its former editor Kelvin MacKenzie.

5. #OPEL: Two complaints made against an Opel ad for being “offensive and sexist towards women” have been rejected by regulators.
