Two injured in Irish Oxygen Plant explosion in Cork

Fire services in Cork have been called out to an incident at the plant.

AN EXPLOSION HAS been reported at the Irish Oxygen Plant in Bishopstown.

Fire services in Cork have been called out to deal with the incident on Waterfall Road.

Gardaí said they were notified of the explosion at about 11.30am.

RTÉ is reporting that two people have been injured in the explosion.

Cork-based radio station RedFM has said the pair received minor facial injuries following the blast.

There is now concern about the asbestos that is present in the roof of the building. People living within 100 metres of the plant have been advised to stay indoors.
