A SAILOR HAS been rescued after falling overboard from his boat at East Ferry in Co Cork.
The incident happened last night just before 9pm.
The RNLI lifeboat crew were on exercise at nearby Roches Point when an emergency call came through informing them that a man had been seen clinging to the side of the boat in the middle of the channel.
The man had been in the water for almost 25 minutes when rescued, and was suffering from hypothermia and injuries to his limbs.
He was administered first aid on the scene before being taken to Cobh where the crew rendezvoused with paramedics in an emergency ambulance.
