More than 3,000 holidaymakers claiming refund following collapse of Lowcostholidays

The Spanish tour operator collapsed on 15 July and customers have until 19 September to submit their claim.

MORE THAN 3,000 people have lodged claims for a refund following the collapse of Lowcostholidays.

The Commission for Aviation Regulation had received 3,040 claims as of this morning.

The Spanish tour operator collapsed on 15 July and customers have until 19 September to submit their claim.

The operator was based in Spain, but the majority of its customers came from Britain. It had offices in the UK, Spain, Switzerland and Poland.

It had an Irish website and Facebook page and was a popular provider among Irish holidaymakers. It’s estimated that 15,000 Irish holidaymakers were left out of pocket.

The Commission says it is currently assessing the claims received so far and in some instances additional information and documentation has been sought.

Claim forms for refunds can be found on the Commission’s website www.aviationreg.ie

I’d say Paddy Hickey wouldn’t mind a refund on his holiday to Rio right about now…

I doubt he went with “lowcostholidays”. First class more likely.

Lol! Problem was he didn’t pay for it though…we the taxpayers did! And of course he and his wife went First Class while the actual athletes went Coach.
    Let that one sink in.

It’s sunk all right. There again, the athletes are young and fit, poor Tricky Hickey is 71 so no doubt that will be the justification. Of course by that reasoning they could row home:-)

If you paid by credit card, do a charge back through the provider. Unfortunately, debit cards aren’t covered but at least you’re being proactive.

Visa debit is coveted. I did a charge back and my bank response was to make a claim to CAR first.

If you paid by credit card for a package deal, you still have to apply for CAR for your refund. The credit card company won’t issue a chargeback as the CAR bond is in place, and this is who you have to claim from.
