Presume we’ll be reading about a lot of prosecutions arising from all these cases in the coming months?

That will all depend on the journalists, in most cases they lose interest after the inital arrest & don’t follow the court proceedings.

What about the 1,500 live animals Bothar are sending to destitute sub saharan Africa by plane ?

40 in calf dairy cows, 260 pigs, 260 goats , 1000 chicks sent on a horrendous 9 hour flight in abysmal conditions – some of these animals will be slaughtered for ritual sacrifice and people get up in arm about puppies taking a 1 hour boat trip to UK probably going to loving families. Hypocrisy!

John would you rather those people in Africa starved to death?

I would rather those people in Africa be self sufficient – you know, like the rest of the world? There is no famine in Rwanda fyi and the war is over 22 years.

John, these pups are taken from their mothers too soon in order to bring on a premature heat so another litter comes on too soon. They breed the bitches to death or end up in a rescue or Pound. Pups are often sick or dying and the survivors do not have the skills learned from their mothers so have behavioural problems as well. €6,000 a year can be made from a breeding bitch tax free !

Paul these puppies will end up in good homes I would be concerned if they got to the UK as there would be no traces and no paperwork.

Horrendous flight? Are you actually for real man. These animals would be better treated than most humans on board an aircraft.

Yes of course McGoo. The 1500 animals are gonna be in first class sipping champagne and sleeping on lie flat beds – Not in metal containers tightly packed in the belly of a cargo plane?
But seriously, a couple of puppies were found in the boot of a car – how horrendous. They weren’t been tortured? They would probably end up in loving homes. We had story this week of 3 children been butchered by their own father – I seriously think people care more about dog welfare than child welfare in this country!

John You missed the boat on that one it was covered here http://www.thejournal.ie/multi-species-flight-leaves-ireland-for-africa-2955876-Aug2016/

You are dead right the bothar thing is a big sham. It would make more sense to breed from locally sourced animals in Africa. The problem is justifiying the big salaries in Ireland, animal cruelty and abuse scam by smoke and mirrors. Sickening!

The reason for no microchip, and thus no documents, I’d so that they can be chipped in th UK and be sold as “British” born puppies and be sold for quite a bit more money than Irish born puppies.

Too right John. Humans are our species like it or not. I abhor animal cruelty but we have to get away from over inflated female-led concerns about things that while important don’t deserve to be headline news.

They’ve had a rough start to their little lives, beautiful little animals, like baby bears, just like my own one, these little bundles of fur grow up to be intelligent clever loyal dogs, with very much their own personality. I hope they all get the homes they deserve and bring joy to many lives!
