President of Philippines calls Obama a 'son of a whore'

Rodrigo Duterte is not impressed with the US president’s criticism of his war on drugs.

PRESIDENT OF THE Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has called Barack Obama a “son of a whore” today as he vowed not to be lectured by the US leader on human rights when they meet in Laos.

Duterte was unhappy at warnings he would face questioning by the US president over a war against drugs in the Philippines that has claimed more than 2,400 lives in just over two months.

“You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a whore, I will curse you in that forum,” Duterte told a news conference shortly before flying to Laos to attend a summit.

“We will be wallowing in the mud like pigs if you do that to me.”

Duterte was due to hold a bilateral meeting with Obama tomorrow afternoon on the sidelines of a gathering of global leaders hosted by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Vientiane, Laos’ capital.

However, shortly after Duterte spoke, Obama appeared to cast doubt on whether such a meeting could take place.

Calling Duterte “a colourful guy”, the US president said he was asking his staff to find out whether a meeting would be useful.

“I always want to make sure if I’m having a meeting that it’s actually productive and we’re getting something done,” he told reporters.

Duterte (71) was elected in May after a promise to wage an unprecedented war on illegal drugs that would see tens of thousands of suspects killed.

Official figures released yesterday show that, since he took office on 30 June, over 2,400 people have been killed in police anti-drug operations and by suspected vigilantes.

Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, Obama said Washington recognised that drugs were a significant problem for the Philippines. But he insisted that he would not shy away from raising concerns about the way the issue was being handled under the new administration.

“The issue of how we approach fighting crime and drug trafficking is a serious one for all of us. We’ve got to do it the right way,” he said.

Undoubtedly, if and when we have a meeting, this is something that’s going to be brought up. And my expectation, my hope, is that it could be dealt with constructively.

Duterte has angrily rejected criticism from the Catholic Church, human rights groups, legislators and the United Nations (UN).

‘More people will be killed’

Today he vowed the bloodbath would continue as he pursued his goal of eradicating illegal narcotics in the Philippines.

“More people will be killed, plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets. Until the [last] drug manufacturer is killed, we will continue and I will continue,” he said.

Duterte insisted he would not take orders from the US, a former colonial ruler of the Philippines, and did not care about how he was perceived.

“I don’t give a shit about anybody observing my behaviour,” he said.

Duterte has quickly earned a reputation for making offensive comments about his critics and others he does not like.

He has also branded Pope Francis and the US ambassador to Manila sons of whores. Before the UN criticised him, he told the global body “F**k you”.

I’d certainly echo his sentiment. Americans are in no position to judge how any other nation chooses to wage their war on drugs given the American war on drugs has been a catastrophic failure.

Obviously false. When did Obama come out and ask people to shoot suspected drug dealers in the streets? No trial?

You do realise Obama has spent the best part of the last few months commuting the sentences of non-violent drug offenders?

Sadly so. Once the rule of law is set aside, score settling sets in. It is a feature of the brutalising effect of killing people that the killers will become insatiable for more victims and then excuses are found. Already, there are a more than a few cases of innocent civilians being killed by death gangs.

We can see that Duterte is uncivilised and not a respecter of laws. What is the excuse for his supporters on The Journal?

You are correct. Naturally, not one of the top drug barons need worry and only the lowest ranking foot soldiers are being extrajudicially executed (= murdered). The police now have carte blanche to kill pretty well anyone they don’t like, or anyone they get paid to hit. Journalists are learning – fast – to be careful what they write. And the Philippines, already one of the most corrupt societies on the planet, will only be corrupted further and most of its 100 million people will slip even deeper into poverty.

The people of the Philippines made a massive mistake when they elected this psychopath, just as the Germans did with Hitler. First they murdered the drug dealers, but I wasn’t a drug dealer. Then they came for the journalists, but I wasn’t a journalist —

Afghan Opium Production 40 Times Higher Since US-NATO Invasion
    31 August 16
About 90 percent of the world’s illegal opium is estimated to come from Afghanistan.
ince the U.S.-led NATO invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, the production of opium in the country has increased by 40 times according to Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service, fueling organized crime and widespread death.
The head of the FSKN, Viktor Ivanov, explained the staggering trend at a March U.N. conference on drugs in Afghanistan. Opium growth in Afghanistan increased 18 percent from 131, 000 hectares to 154, 000, according to Ivanov’s estimates.
“Afghan heroin has killed more than one million people worldwide since the ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’ began and over a trillion dollars has been invested into transnational organized crime from drug sales,” said Ivanov according to Counter Current News.

I don’t think it will bother President Obama too much to be described in such disparaging terms by Dutarte, who has also called Pope Francis the same thing, because he knows the Philippines Prez is as mad as a box of frogs and a murderous psychopath.

Besides, it is quite likely that the CIA knows and has told President Obama what ails Dutarte; my best guess would be an advanced stage of syphilis, when the afflicted person becomes both extremely dangerous and batsh*t crazy. In the unlikely event of Trump winning, though, Dutarte would be well advised to learn to button it, because The Donald is extremely thin-skinned and has already threatened gazillion-class lawsuits against people who have implied that his father was an orangutan (look at the hair) or that his current trophy wife was a bit of a slapper and worked as an escort before she married Trump.

I can’t blame you guys from commenting negatively against President Duterte. Main stream media controlled by oligarchs if not by druglords themselves want to topple the administration of our beloved president. Philippines is in a narco state situation right now just like Columbia ( Pablo Escobar era) wherein Druglords cotrolled everything. …justice system, police and politicians. Most of the killings were done by druglords themselves to silence any possible leakage. Drug corriers/ peddlers are armed to the teeth and would not surrender to the police without a fight. The real situation in my country is far different from what being portrayed by main stream media. President Duterte has the majority support of the Filipino people. He is our only hope to rectify our present corrupt laden/ rotten bureaucratic system.

    This moral relativism is unnecessary.

The US has a bad policy on drugs. It doesn’t work.

Duarte’s policy on drugs is inhumane, illegal by international law, stupid, ineffective, cruel and plainly barbaric.

Therefore, since the US’ policy on drugs is *nowhere near as bad* as Duarte’s, Obama is perfectly entitled to criticise in this instance. Especially seeing as the former has been commuting non-violent drug offenders’ sentences lately. The US’ bad policy on drugs isn’t Obama’s fault. He’s actively trying to lessen the damage of the policies.

Effectively setting aside the rule of law and allowing open season on killing of suspected drug dealers, apart from being uncivilised and barbaric, is opening Pandora’s bix. Once killers get crazed on killing with impunity they become more violent, bloodthirsty and power mad. Assassination gangs get out of control and are not easy to put back in the box, once unleashed.

You are fairly good at arithmetic, but would you really like to see the Gardaí given free hands to murder 20 people in two months? And what makes you think they would want that? Be careful what you wish for, and bear in mind that it would be very convenient for some to just label anyone they disliked “drug dealers”.

So Patrick take the number of 2,400. That would be 60 killed a month in this country, without a trial, without a solicitor, without a chance to defend themselves. His form of justice is admit guilt amd we’ll give you a trial or don’t amd we’ll just shoot you. Guess what, you admitted guilt, good luck with your trial. Whether you did it or not you’re dead once accused.

@Fintan Oflaois ————As can be construed by my earlier post above the war on drugs in the Philippines is partially externally driven as The Muslim Brotherhood controls ISIS/Al Queda and Philippino drug warlords ,etc; Also 85% of the Muslims in some ares have been identified as being involved in pushing the drugs onto Catholic children. As such it is a real war against an insidious enemy that requires a war like response to which Western democracies ought give full support to the Philippines. If we don’t, this Muslim Brotherhood driven drug war will soon be within our borders as, indeed , it already is, if you recall the drug killings in Denmark recently that was on here as a topic.

Patrick, death sentences without trial is indefensible. There’s no point in trying to argue this policy is effective – even if it were it would still be shameful and abhorrent. It doesn’t matter how many criminals he gets rid of, the principle of innocence until proven guilty by a jury of your peers isn’t to be questioned.

Patricj J O’Connor You bore the arse off me with your constant insane rants and you are less interesting than a cracked record. I get it already: you hate Muslims. Well I’m not that fond of any religion myself, so let’s just leave it at that.

The US never ceases to amaze me at its lack of elementary morality. If you cannot apply the same standards to yourself that you apply to other people then you have no right to criticize others.
Duterte’s campaign is barbaric but still comes nowhere near close to the amount of lives destroyed in the US in its own ‘War on Drugs’.

Something drastic needed to happen, once he’s cleaned up the place it will all settle down again. Before he got this role he was in charge of a small province which went from a dodgy area to one of the lowest crime rates in the Phillipines
