Man arrested in Northern Ireland over Regency Hotel murder

The man was arrested on foot of a European arrest warrant in Strabane.

A MAN HAS been arrested in Co Tyrone in connection with the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin.

Byrne, a member of the Kinahan drug gang, was shot dead at a boxing weigh-in at the hotel on 5 February this year. The PSNI said a 46-year-old man was arrested today in the Strabane area in connection with the murder.

A spokesperson said he was arrested on foot of a European arrest warrant from the Republic.

He is scheduled to appear before a court in Belfast tomorrow.

Seven people have been arrested in the south of Ireland as part of this investigation.

    Worser and Worser it’s getting. I don’t blame the “journalists” themselves but surely their editor and boss must be doing some real head scratching over their so called policies

    it’s kind of odd… up in Belfast court for a murder in Dublin, with the exact same presumption of innocence as hickey (who, afaik, hasn’t been fully charged yet), yet not a word of didn’t allowed. i guess this guy may be able get you shot, but that’s nothing compared to the threat of “legal action” for today’s journalists.

    The article is badly worded; he’s not been charged with murder yet, he is being brought before the court for extradition in order to be charged for murder in an Irish court.

    TheJournal.ie has always had the strangest policies, you can comment on this but comments on some random case in some far flung country are closed, never understood it!
