LIVE STREAMING OF child sexual abuse and so-called “revenge porn” is on the rise according to Europol.
Europe’s police agency is warning that vulnerable children are increasingly falling victim to sexual predators.
“Live distant child abuse is… being reported as a growing threat,” Europol said in its latest annual cyber organised crime threat assessment, released at its headquarters in The Hague.
Live streaming of child sex abuse “involves a perpetrator directing the live abuse of children on a (pre-arranged) specific time-frame through video sharing platforms,” Europol said in the 72-page report.
The abuse can be ‘tailored’ to the requests of the soliciting offender(s) and recorded.
More generally “the volume, scope and material cost of cybercrime all remain on an upward trend and have reached very high levels,” the agency said in a separate statement.
Most illegal activities take place in the so-called “darknet” or encrypted peer-to-peer networks, which offer greater degrees of anonymity to users.
‘Revenge Porn’
Traditionally live stream child abuse groups were based in southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, but that “more recent reports indicate that it is now spreading to other countries,” Europol warned.
Without naming specific countries, the policing agency said:
Regions of the world with high levels of poverty, limited domestic child protection measures and easy access to children are being targeted by offenders.
“The exploitation of children online is a huge problem for us,” Steven Wilson, Europol’s cyber crime centre (EC3) chief told AFP in an interview.
Wilson added cyber crime investigators have also noticed a rise in so-called “revenge porn”, where sexually explicit images are posted without another person’s consent in order to harm that person or cause distress.
To counter these threats, Europol was working on a series of information videos on the dangers of online sexual abuse, which will soon be distributed in schools across various European countries.
The report also highlights other online cyber crimes, such as the growing threat of ransomware, that infects a victim’s computer and then captures data, before demanding a payment for the data to be released.
Whereas ransomware used to target individual victims and small businesses, it now focused on major companies and even public institutions such as hospitals, Wilson said.
“We have seen instances where hospitals have had their records locked out, potentially with fatal consequences,” Wilson said, referring to an ongoing case in the United States.

It would make you want to vomit. I feel bad when my kid falls in the playground for ppl to enjoy inflicting pain or watching abuse I can’t even begin io comprehend it nor do I want to. They are just some of the worst monsters in the world.
Alternatively we could just trace these sick f%%&s, go to their house and feed them their own testicles.
@Aural Abuse: Unfortunately with the likes of Thor it’s pretty untraceable. Also, trying to trace in a poverty stricken country is just as hard.

About 10/12 years ago I opened an email and it was a link directly to kiddy porn. It was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen, I just can’t understand how/why an adult would even look at a child with a view to abuse. I could not erase or delete the site and these vile images kept appearing on my screen. I ended up smashing the pc with a hammer . These vile people should be flogged & marked in public.
I’d take a good look at whoever had been using your computer. Spam porn links (never seen underage ones) tend to come after you’ve been on a site
You could be 100% spot on there , It was a shared unit.
You could be getting some teen in trouble with his dad, the poor kid could’ve been click baited when looking at the standard soft stuff that teen tend to be infatuated by. That’s the danger of soft porn, it really is a gateway to the weird sicko end of that business. Since it seems impossible to ban porn altogether, I wonder would it be possible to ban macros on so called mainstream sites.
@ Ian , I have never ever visited one of those twisted sites and never intent to. If you take the time to read my post before you injure yourself jumping to conclusions you will see that I opened an email attachment by mistake. It was an email supposedly sent by a recognised contact and it was 10/15 years ago. Thank you for your well thought out response.

Much tougher, mandatory sentencing for possession of child porn…. lets say 10 years minimum with zero suspended, indefinite committal to a secure psychiatric unit or something, unless they volunteer for chemical castration.
It will never happen of course, you get caught actually raping a child in Ireland and you wont get 10 years or anywhere near it.
Our justice system doesn’t take these sort of crimes seriously.
I work with the results of these perverts depredations….i had no idea how many of these perverts are out there and how rarely they get proper time….im now of the opinion that they are protected and we are fobbed off with the ” burden of proof/evidence” line….

Could we not use this our advanced, get the police to write in the chat or comment section if any or put adverts where they can meet real kids which would be a plot and when they arrive be arrested but instead of jail etc, which would probably lead to it going under groud. We would offer help if it such a thing for this.
