Four stabbings in three days as gardaí called to two incidents last night

Two incidents occurred last night in Waterford city and Dundalk, Co Louth.

GARDAÍ WERE CALLED to a stabbing incident at Castletown Road, Dundalk at around 7pm last night. A man in his 20s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with is believed to be stab wounds. The incident is under investigation.

A man in his 20s is in custody at Waterford Garda station following an incident on O’Connell St in Waterford city last evening. A man in his 40s received lacerations to his hand in an incident.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, gardaí were called to a stabbing in Allenton Avenue in Tallaght, Dublin, where a 23-year-old man was injured.

On the same day, a man was found stabbed to death in a flat on the South Circular Road close to the junction with Bloomfield Avenue in Dublin 8.

A man in his 20s was seen fleeing the scene in a bloody top.

Gardaí were alerted to the scene by members of the public when a second man was found on the street outside the flat with a number of injuries.

The man, who is believed to be a Swiss national, was taken to St James’ Hospital for treatment and he remains under the care of the hospital although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

All four incidents are under investigation.

    I’m all for mandatory sentences if found carrying a knife for no reason other than to harm.

    There should be mandatory sentencing for a lot of things, murder 30 years, rape 20 years and so on. Circumstances shouldn’t matter if you still did it

    @James Odin: No James, Amnesty get upset at the likes of mandatory death sentences or mandatory sentences for being gay; not for rapist and murderers.

    I drove past the scene on Dundalk last night. Loadsa kids in school uniforms annoying the hell out of the guards. Where are their parents. The area in particular is known to be a rough one and I was happy to be driving on towards home.

    When will we tackle our out of control knife culture. We need knife control immediately, ban all knives.

    @James Odin: Yes because you often here about a single assailant wiping out half his school with a knife. This is a straw man argument. Can you kill people with knives, hammers and hatchets? Yes. But a gun is designed for killing and allows you to do so in a much more efficient and deadly fashion
