TWO SENIOR GOVERNMENT ministers answer questions from TheJournal.ie readers about two of the most-discussed areas of Budget 2017 – housing and children.
Live from Facebook headquarters in Dublin’s docklands, our political reporter Christina Finn spoke to Housing Minister Simon Coveney and Minister for Children Katherine Zappone the questions that you have put to them over the past 24 hours.
There was a huge volume of questions sent in by readers covering a wide range of issues, including the new help-to-buy scheme for first-time buyers and the major new childcare scheme due to launch in September 2017.
Unfortunately we didn’t have time to get to all your questions on Facebook, but we will be forwarding some of your comments on to the minsters’ office tomorrow.

This history is quite recent , (particularly today on the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising – an event that claimed 250,000 Polish lives when Nazis slaughtered men women and children while Russia held back their military to allow the Nazis time to finish their work and make a Russian takeover easier) and informs Polish military preparedness today. Ask any Pole you know about their views on what happened their country during ww2.

I, like many others, use the phrase to show support for Post Soviet Ukraine and its fight for democracy and against Putins murderous invasion. You can interpret it in any way you like, that’s for you to decide.
I’ll keep saying Slava Ukraini until Russia has left Ukraine entirely.

All this talk about Poles in WW2 is nothing but the usual revisionism nonsense. I G Farben who made the Zyklon B gas for the concentration camps in Poland was full of Polish workers who only after the war ended said they didn’t want to work there even though they were treated as civilian workers by the Nazis and were not prisoners. 8000 worked for IG Farben alone. Only a few of these numbers were forced labourers. Poland ran with the hare and chased with the hound when it suited them.

Zyklon B was not manufactured at IG Farben Auschwitz. The plant produced synthetic fuel and rubber. The Poles were classed as Untermench by the Nazi’s whose policies resulted in the death of 6 million Polish citizens. The Polish workers had very restricted freedoms at I G Farben. I can quote many sources including Auschwitz official site. A History of Bayer 1866-1983 & KL A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps by N Wachsmann.
Context: The people of Eastern Europe were forced to make many compromises in order to survive during the 20th century. A logical decision made one day could result in death the next day. People were forced to endure a number of brutal merciless regimes. The decision some of them to survive and protect their families cannot be judged out of context. It seems that you are the one making up counterfactual narratives here.
It is highly unlikely Belarus violated Polish airspace.
“The violation took place in the Bialowieza area at a very low altitude, hampering the detection by radar systems,” the (Polish) ministry said in explanation.
In other words, the Poles have no decent evidence to back up their assertion.

Catherine Belton in an excellent book about Putin, recalled the story of how he threatened to cut off the gas supply to Belarus at a time the temperature there was -26°C.
Next time the Auks from Mordor threaten free lands with their helicopters, just shoot them out of the sky.

Belarus has provided Poland with detailed evidence of the routine and proximity of their aircraft to the Polish border where there was no incursion onto Polish territory while one of their fighter jets came within 200m of the Belarus border on the same day.
