File image - lightning over London.

A rainfall warning's been issued - and we can expect the odd thunderstorm too

We’re in for some wet weather this weekend.

A RAINFALL WARNING has been issued for parts of the country.

The yellow alert rain warning covers Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford. It covers the hours from 9pm this evening till 2pm tomorrow.

This is Met Éireann’s advisory:

“Preliminary warning: there is the risk of some heavy/thundery rain Saturday night/Sunday morning giving some local spot flooding.”

Heavy rain is also expected across Connacht and Leinster today.

According to the latest outlook from the weather service, it will start off mainly dry across Munster and Ulster – but the rest of the country can expect “isolated thunderstorms” to go with the wet weather.

“The rain will clear northwards this morning or early afternoon and it will become mainly dry everywhere for a time with sunny spells.

However showers will push up from the south later in the afternoon and extend to all areas by evening time.

The outlook for the entire country for tomorrow says we can expect more showers – some heavy – and that the risk of thunder will remain.

The unsettled weather looks likely to continue on Monday and Tuesday – but a spell of dry and bright weather will follow that, it’s forecast, from Wednesday through till Friday.

You hardly expect any more than a lazy attempt at journalism here at this stage do you? It’s as depressing as the rain.

The last time the world had half decent journalism was when people paid for it. That’s not a coincidence. There’s a market out there for an old school newspaper that isn’t owned and paid for by advertisers, big businessmen and politicians and is therefore willing to piss off whoever it needs to as long as its customers are willing to pay for it.

Your right about getting what you pay for. Watergate, pedophile cover up in the church, Birmingham six & loads more scandals were only exposed by journalists working and digging up stuff for ages. Thats the sort of journalism you only get from well paid professionals and we shouldbe really worried about the decline in that kind of journalism & reporting

@Dean Anderson: Exactly. They sell infotainment for ad space these days. Journalists, like everyone else, find it hard to understand anything when their salary depends on their not understanding it. Anyone who wants to see a media that does its job again is therefore going to have to pay those salaries. People have assumed that the internet is a free lunch of information. But data is not information and reprinting press releases is not journalism.
