Assange peeps out from the Ecuadorean Embassy in London. Dominic Lipinski/PA

Wikileaks accuse John Kerry of ordering Ecuador to cut off Julian Assange's wifi

A staunch critic of Hillary Clinton, Assange has been accused of turning Wikileaks into a “prop for Trump”.

WIKILEAKS HAS BLAMED the Ecuadorean embassy for cutting off internet access to Julian Assange under the supposed orders of the United States government.

Assange, a staunch critic of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, has been accused of turning Wikileaks into a prop for Trump, and becoming the best friend of the Republican nominee, due to his increasingly high-profile attempts to influence the US presidential election.

He has been living in Ecuador’s embassy to the UK in London for the past four years, due to rape charges in Sweden.

Assange has said that Trump’s openness is part of his “charismatic appeal”, and has defended his reluctance to leak hacked material from Donald Trump, which has prompted criticism from supporters like Peter Tatchell.

In July, Wikileaks released 20,000 private emails from the Democratic National Committee, forcing the resignation of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Clinton supporter.

Yesterday, Wikileaks accused unknown state actors for disrupting Assange’s web lifeline in the Ecuadorean embassy. It appears to have concluded that those responsible are in the embassy itself, right under Assange’s nose.

Wifi

Today, Wikileaks has also said that John Kerry, Clinton’s successor as United States Secretary of State, asked Ecuador to stop Assange publishing documents hacked from Clinton’s emails on 26 September.

A cyber-espionage specialist, Assange has been claiming asylum at London’s Ecuadorean embassy since 2012 in order to avoid extradition over sex assault allegations.

The anti-secrecy organisation said in a tweet: “We have activated the appropriate contingency plans.”

Assange has been hiding in the Ecuadorean Embassy in central London for more than four years in a bid to avoid returning to Sweden to face rape charges.

Russian hackers

Ecuador has reportedly refused to respond to what it termed “speculation” on Twitter, vowing to continue to protect their long-term guest with political asylum.

The Wikileaks claim follows the latest emails it disclosed after it hacked of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails.

It released three transcripts on Saturday of Clinton’s paid speeches to Goldman Sachs.

The organisation’s consistent search for material that may prove damaging to Clinton’s bid to be president has seen it win many Trump supporters. Fox News is often the first to broadcast Wikileaks allegations. The latter reciprocates by retweeting their reports.

Donald Trump had previously called on Russia to hack into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

Assange denies Sweden’s rape allegation and says he fears that if he were sent to Sweden to face trial, he could be extradited to the United States to be tried over WikiLeaks’ publication of thousands of classified documents.

Mr Magoo. Nobody came forward about Jimmy Saville’s abuse until after his death. Why? Fear of not being believed was one the main reasons. The same could apply to Trumps accusers. The fact the he himself admitted to it may have given them the courage to come forward.

The Obama administration and entire American apparatus are doing everything they can to ensure a smooth transition to what they believe is a safe pair of hands, Hillary’s.
Rightly or wrongly they’re using everything at their disposal, making sure the various Trump transgressions surface at just the right time etc. But the problem of course is that he doesn’t play by any standard rules and then there’s Assange and Wikileaks you risks putting a serious dent into Hillary’s campaign. Especially if he has more to come.
And that’s what’s believed to be the case. It’s widely rumoured that Russia has the goods on Hillary and Bill, and through third parties they either have or will leak these to Wikileaks. And Putin’s motovation is simple, America and Saudi Arabia have reduced the price of oil so low and imposed sanctions because of Putins military action in the Ukraine that it has seriously weakened Russia’s economy. Russia cannot survive. The oligarch’s wealth within Russia is now seriously threathened, and consequently so is Putin himself.
If he can destabilise the Middle East enough to drive the price of oil back up he can save his country, his oligarchs wealth – and his own skin. The problem is that he’s betting everything on being able to do this, he’ll fight on every front, cyber, Syria, Russian battleships in the Med.
For Putin having Trump in the White House would be great, unlikely but great, he’ll settle for creating chaos during the election. For him right now Syria is the real prize.

    @mr magoo:

How is this: “the most frightening information is coming out from Wiklieaks about criminal behaviour corruption and collusion with the media, banks corporations” relevant to the presidential election?

    - Yes, Wikileaks has a lot of juicy leaks published, including illegally obtained material, and some of this information points to criminal behaviour on parties exposed.
    - Yes, Trump is a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, authoritarian, and a serial liar who puts his foot in it on a daily basis – hence “the media” write about it – he’s supposed to be a presidential candidate, not a raging village idiot.
    - Yes, Clinton is a professional career politician.

Again, how is your sweeping remark relevant in the context of Trump / Clinton / presidential election?

Do you have anything specific at all that is “criminal behaviour corruption and collusion” (that isn’t taken from a conspiracy nut job website, but say, Wikileaks)?

    Just curious.

No matter how much you hate Trump surely her supporters must be able to at least acknowledge the bias in the media and address it ?? Isn’t that what democracy is about ?

MrMagoo> Can’t say anything for being labelled a sexist, racist etc.? Really? If you actually say something sexist like Trump it is correct to call him a sexist. There isn’t any ambiguity about what he has said. You are right that SOME people use labels and reststrict rational discussion. In Trump’s case he has been labeled correctly. The bias in the media as you put it is more to do with him repeating and doubling down on comments. There doesn’t need to be a plan or bias as generally they are reporting precisely what he said with recordings or tweets. Like his apology that he released and effectively retracted it the next day by dismissing it as locker room talk. That is news worthy of reporting. Trump’s apology for the birthed issue was Trump trying to play the media as was the women he brought out before the last debate. His techniques aren’t working like the used to so him and supporters like you blame the media. His own words are causing the media issues not bias.

Apropos of nothing, but I just can’t put my finger on it, the vast majority of Trump supporters i have encountered display either racist or xenophobic traits or homophobic ones, have scant regard for women and are generally simple minded people who think that the worlds problems can be solved overnight and/or are caused by one event – the other Trump supporters are white supremacists. Strange that someone like Assange who proports to hate US big business and the Federal Government would so openly support a member of that very same Big Business in the form of Trump. Would it be because his paymaster Vladimir also supports Trump? And never once has Wikileaks even attempted to release any damaging material about Russia or the Putin Government. What assange has said about trump.
We do have some information about the Republican campaign,” he said Friday, according to The Washington Post.
I mean, it’s from a point of view of an investigative journalist organization like WikiLeaks, the problem with the Trump campaign is it’s actually hard for us to publish much more controversial material than what comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth every second day,” Assange said.
“I mean, that’s a very strange reality for most of the media to be in.”
Assange also said earlier this month WikiLeaks is eager for information it can publicly release about Trump.
“If anyone has any information that is from inside the Trump campaign, which is authentic, it’s not like some claimed witness statement but actually internal documentation, we’d be very happy to receive and publish it,” he said in an Aug. 17 interview aired on NPR’s “Morning Edition.”

@shane mooney: I wouldn’t support a family member who had consensual sex with someone and then turned around and cried rape for him not wearing a condom. The “victim” or victims admit it was consensual. I suggest you read the whole story. The rape accusation made against him would not even be investigated in any other country. Not only that Swedish police released him as clear to leave the country after questioning with no case to answer. Only later when a certain lawyer with US money got involved it was revived. Even now they only want him to answer questions, not charges. He has offered to answer all questions in the embassy but they want him back in Sweden. We all know why as the US prosecutors have said he will fry when they get him as they have been told to expect him.

As for Trump and Clinton, yep, Trump has lots of dirty skeletons hanging around and is a pig and a bully but as far as we know he doesn’t have blood on his hands. The Clintons however do. If you have time to read the leaks the picture that emerges is not pretty. It would appear that you think that politicians who have power can do exactly what they want , take money for influence, fund terror, leave brave men to die and lie when asked about it and that is acceptable? is that your idea of democracy? At least now politicians are being forced to examine the way they operate as they cannot guarantee they can hide things or who they are really working for. That is progress and will raise standards. The old ways have to die. History will judge Wikileaks better than politicians.

As for a trial, Sweden will not give a cast iron guarantee that he won’t be extradited to the US. He has said he will go for trial the next day if they give that guarantee and they won’t. That says it all about what is going on.

The public at that time was and still is very anti-US when it comes to extraditions because of the one-sided treaty. It’s rendition he has to be scared of. As you know requests for extradition only come when they know they will be accepted. They were hopping mad over the McKinnon affair as they were told they would get him. The US couldn’t request extradition from Sweden unless he was physically there either. He was actually due for rendition from Sweden in reality.

@Mick Jordan: He’s changing them every day and getting new ones all the time…so I hear. He went through 18 sims in one day apparently. He’s been doing video interviews all over the world that way. It normally takes a few hours for them to lock on to the right one with all the other signals firing at the same time and either block or monitor it otherwise they could take down all the ambassadorial communications. Then there’s also his visitors who have “legitimate” phones that get used all the time. It’s an unwritten etiquette that they turn on their hotspots when they go in. He’s also been using other encrypted wifi mobile repeaters that move locally. Monitoring is pretty useless as he’s no kid when it comes to encryption. GCHQ have a large amount of staff trying to shut him up and if they were capable of doing it permanently then they would have done it by now. Ironically they apparently offered him a job years ago as they realised he, or his people had got into them. Either way he has to use limited communication now as the wikileaks infrastructure is functioning without him and he’s really only advisory and spokesman as opposed to being a hacker now and the amount of information he needs to move really only takes a nanosecond or two.. As for Russian equipment he has refused offers apparently because of the obvious implications. Anyway, as I said, it’s just a story for political ends.

It still requires the use of the UK Cell network. He can change sim cards 100 times a day it would make no odds. He is still using the same Cell Towers as his position is fixed within the Embassy. So few hours I don’t thinks so, a few seconds would be more accurate.

@Mick Jordan: I understand all that. It works and we know it does. His position wouldn’t be fixed either and tracking an individual device can only be accurate from the signal to the max of 25 metres in any court of law unless the GPS is also turned on. It also depends on the antennae and whether they are directional. Several people have spoken about the issues from GCHQ both anonymously and not so anonymously. It was likened to the Jasper Carrott story of him trying to deal with the moles under his lawn. As you know the building also houses the Colombian Embassy, so knocking out or monitoring phones in that building would result in some high level diplomatic problems. I know the building well actually, being born about 250 metres away myself. Interfering with communications in that area at all would result in some serious problems.

@Mick Jordan: Most of the “knowledge” I have imparted here is in the public domain and can be found if you’re interested, know where to look and have lots of time. As for the building, he does move around it pretty much at free will apart from going into the Colombian Embassy. The facade of the building looks small but there is a lot behind it as is normal for those buildings. Given that signal tracing can’t be accurate to within less than 25 metres then he has a lot to play with as that building is more than 50 metres deep. Many of those buildings have cellars that interconnect with others and exterior exits. He has also been allowed up on the roof to get some rays for health reasons. I know that type of Embassy building quite well having spent the very early part of my life in one. We lived in Grosvenor Gardens on the floor below where the Iranian Siege happened, luckily before that, but my mother said she wished she could have done it herself. That’s the business my father worked in. Anyway, I’ve had enough of Embassies and espionage for one day thank you Mick lol.
