Dublin Fire Brigade have had a busy old time of it tonight

We’re getting close to Halloween, and it’s all been kicking off tonight.

WE’RE TEN DAYS away from Halloween.

Traditionally, it’s one of the fire brigade’s busiest times of year, and tonight has been no exception. But for lots of different reasons.

For starters this evening Dublin Fire Brigade has dealt with a derelict house being burnt to the ground in Garristown in the north of the county.

While four units of DFB were dispatched, a spokesman assured TheJournal.ie that the quite-impressive-looking blaze in reality looked worse than it actually was.

“It was just a derelict house in the middle of a field. We’ve had units keeping an eye on it but it should be ok,” he said. “We couldn’t even say what started it, the whole building has collapsed at this stage.

Meanwhile, earlier this evening officers were called to Temple Bar where a man had collapsed:

This is of course not to mention the gorse fire that broke out in Rathfarnham that DFB had to deal with this evening, and the car that caught fire off the Grange Road in the area.

Earlier today meanwhile, a new recruit at Tallaght Fire Station made it 20 minutes into his first shift before being summoned to his first fire. Talk about a baptism of flames, quite literally in fact.

Well done those men. Sleep well after your shift ends tonight guys, you’ve earned it.

Any young gurrier (and it will happen next week) caught firing stones at our Fire Service should be thrown in youth jail (if we had a proper one) and parents also held accountable

They’re not. It’s impossible to put a valuation on the work they do

It’s not like there’s a team from Meath Fire Service representing Ireland in the World Rescue Championships at the moment. Not just making up the numbers either, they came 2nd last year and won an international tournament run by another company in Germany!

So you’re saying all the best rescue teams in the world are in the same place right now?

The DFB is big enough to have a P.R unit. Just because Meath or otherwise don’t have a similar dept doesn’t mean their work is less appreciated by their clients.

The “clients” of rescue services across this country are the general public, victims of fate, circumstance or instances of their own design. The point I was trying to make was that the media in general the media haven’t shown a proper interest in the phenomenal work done by this team in the last few years, yrt a busy night for DFB is worthy of national coverage.
That being said, the Journal is the most noteworthy outlet when it comes to dealing with such events (albeit elaborating on DFB’s Twitter account!)

I do t disagree with you, the fire services throughout the countryside do great work. My point is that the articles are almost written for the journal by the twitter account and if Meath, or any other service had a similar P.R output they would probably get the same coverage.
