Police appeal for information on the fourth anniversary of Cavan man's killing

According to police, “relationships, friendships and loyalties may have changed and people may be in a better position to help us now.”

A RENEWED APPEAL has begun for information today in relation to John Kerins, who was murdered in Co Cavan four years ago.

On Friday 9 November 2012, John Kerins was found murdered at his home at Cornaveagh, Bailieboro. He was living on his own and gardaí understand he was murdered at his home between the 8 and 9 November.

The PSNI and gardaí are today appealing to anyone with information on the murder to contact them.

If you do have relevant information, the organisation Crimestoppers provide a confidential means for citizens to report crime, through a freephone service manned by trained gardaí. If you do have relevant information, remember:

  • Calls to Crimestoppers are anonymous
  • Callers do not need to leave their name or address
  • Anybody with information can call Crimestoppers on 1800 25 00 25.

Speaking today, Detective Inspector Shay O’Leary, Monaghan garda station said,

“As there were no witnesses, we have very limited information to help solve this crime. That is why we are making a renewed appeal for anyone with any information on this case to come forward.

It’s the fourth anniversary of his murder and we are hoping that someone may come forward with information.

“I genuinely believe that members of the public have information in relation to the murder and I am asking these individuals to come forward. With the passage of time they may now wish to come forward.

Relationships, friendships and loyalties may have changed and people may be in a better position to help us now.

“Any information should be forwarded to investigating Gardaí at Bailieboro Garda Station or any Garda Station. If a member of the public prefers to give the information anonymously, they can call Crimestoppers on 1800 25 00 25.”

As part of this investigation, the unsolved murder is to be featured on the forthcoming edition of Crime Call which will be transmitted later in November on RTE 1.

I heard an interview the other day on coast to coast fm, some weather scientist was talking about “how our planet is slowly entering a mini ice age”.
