Gardaí warn pet owners to be responsible after finding abandoned kittens in suitcase

The DSPCA has re-homed over 900 cats and kittens to date in 2016, an increase on previous years.

GARDAÍ FOUND THREE abandoned kittens in a suitcase in Dublin 1 yesterday.

An Garda Síochána shared an image of the kittens online, with a reminder for pet owners to always be responsible.

The Garda Press Office said the kittens have been re-homed.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie, Gillian Bird of the DSPCA said the milder autumn we had weather-wise has led to “an increase in the number of kittens being born”.

She said the good weather, coupled with a late start to breeding, has seen cats continue to breed later than usual.

Neutering

The DSPCA has re-homed over 900 cats and kittens  to date in 2016, an increase on previous years.

It is estimated that there are over 100,000 feral cats in Dublin county alone and the DSPCA works with members of the public to neuter and care for these colonies. The organisation has neutered about 300 feral cats so far this year.

Bird said that any cat from nine weeks of age up is neutered before they leave the DSPCA shelter.

When cases are settled on the steps of the court house, the real winners are the legal profession.
I hope this system is an improvement and people get help when they need it, not years down the line when their lives are completely altered

@Epgenetics29 Declan Christy: 60 grand might seem like a lot but over a lifetime it isn’t much. Personally if I had a choice between permanent damage to a hand or the money I’d rather have my body intact. I’d imagine most people would think the same

@Epgenetics29 Declan Christy: you didn’t read it. Not a broken finger. “suffers a permanent deformity” and that after 2 surgeries. But you’re faux rage comment is much cooler.

You sign up to do a job that carries certain amount of risk and how can the department of justice or the state be negligible if then you are assaulted in the course of your work that you signed up for and are aware of the risks ..my understanding of civil law is that someone had to be proved to be negligible to win a injury claim
