November surprise? People have been rushing to their phones to document the first snow

There have been flurries across the east of the country and in the Midlands.

TheJournal.ie / YouTube

SURE, IT HAPPENS every year – but the first snow of winter (no matter how insignificant) always elicits a flurry of interest.

We’ve had the odd, isolated wintry shower in some areas recently, but this morning’s showers hit just as rush hour was coming to an end, and affected much of the east of the country, as well as the Midlands.

In case you were wondering, the forecast for the rest of the day isn’t great either, and there are further warnings of hail and sleet. Expect to see snow cover on the tops of mountains by sunset tonight, Met Éireann says in its latest forecast.

The wintry showers added to misery on the nation’s roads first thing (as if the heavy rain wasn’t already enough to deal with).

And at offices, homes (and farms) around the country, people have been taking to social media to share their photos and videos of the sleet and snow.

Proof that winter is here… Sure, we were expecting it – but that doesn’t mean we can’t complain a little.

The wintry conditions struck a little earlier across the water – this was the scene on on Middleham Moor, North Yorkshire, last week as snowfall made travel difficult across parts of the UK.

The falls here this morning weren’t quite so picturesque, as one or two people observed:

Ah come on.. Before social media this would have been a non event, just the start of winter.. Now apparently a bit of sleet is newsworthy and a main headline on a news site..

The Martian King doesn’t exist. He is just a false flag planted to take the focus off the lizard people and the Venutians, who use Flouride and chemtrails to keep us making CO2, which they need to breathe, in order to have a habitable planet when they wipe us out at the rapture. It all makes sense.

When I was in school we were taught November, December and January were Winter. Plus, what kind of season? Meteorological winter, astronomical winter, traditional winter. There are lots of different types of seasons.

Actually, the traditional seasons, used in Ireland for centuries, and as reflected in the Irish language, had November as the first month of Winter. The Irish for October is Deireadh Fómhair, or literally translated into English as Autumn’s End. In Manx Gaelic, who used the same traditional calendar, January is Jerrey Geuree which literally translates as Winter’s End. It’s not about poor teachers. It’s about the type of season you choose to use.
