WIND AND RAIN warnings have been issued by Met Éireann and the Irish Coast Guard is warning people to stay safe in the stormy conditions.
The stormy weather will be concentrated along the eastern seaboard from Louth to Wexford.
A status yellow weather warning is in place with wind speeds of 65 km/h and gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h to be expected in coastal regions. The winds are set to peak this evening but will remain strong overnight and into tomorrow.
A rainfall warning for Wexford and Wicklow means that some spot flooding is possible as between 25 to 45mm or rain is dumped before tomorrow.
The Irish Coast Guard is advising the public to “exercise caution near exposed coastal areas” and was already called out to keep people safe in Howth, Co Dublin this afternoon.
An Irish Coast Guard team was sent to the East Pier because waves were breaking over the pier, three hours before high tide.
People are being urged to be aware of the danger of waves crashing over a pier and washing people into the sea.

@Godsmack – I Stand Al-Eoin: very interesting thank you. My house was built in around the early 80s so I dont think we have internal lead pipes so I wonder if the work will be done completely free.
@LittleBee: Stats being used to get water tax eventually implemented. First two tranches of which wont be for water.
@LittleBee: Until you get it sorted, you should use a filter jug for all ingested water. It will remove heavy metals.
Does €462,000 that include all the social welfare payments made to the homeless who stay in hostels.
Don’t understand your post. Are you suggesting homeless people given emergency accommodation shouldn’t get social welfare payments? The article says Hotels and Guest Houses so it refers to accommodation provided without any other supports
@MyBrokenKnees: I challenge you to go find adequate housing on what social welfare pays. Landlords shy away from accepting HAP. Walk a mile in their shoes. By the way, not everyone receiving social welfare is on it just for fun.
