Recessions, downgrades and Super Mario - 2011: the year in money

2011 may be remembered in future as the year we sorted out the financial crisis – or the year in which it grew beyond our control.

IT’S REGULARLY QUIPPED that a 2011 episode of ‘Reeling in the Years’ would need to be given its own box set, such is the volume of groundbreaking events we’ve seen in the last twelve months.

Though it has been less crammed with epochal moments, the 2008-2011 financial crisis (soon to become the ’2008-2012′ financial crisis) has been one of the defining stories of the year on the global stage, as leaders struggle to bring an end to the collective fear of investors: that Europe simply isn’t worth investing in.

Here, in an attempt to take stock of everything that’s happened this year, is our gallery of financially-themed news in 2011.

That Leo varakar is some tulip, mouthing off about second bailout, saying it will grand we’ll all be going on holidays in Ireland next year… Head in the clouds as they say no idea what some families are going through.

Frank it’s not up to you to decide whether or not Gavin should change his career. If you don’t like what you read, read something else. I for one enjoy what Gavin writes.
