WRAP UP WARM – and take care on the roads – there are two weather warnings in place for Ireland this morning.
Met Éireann has put a Status Orange fog warning in place for much of the country, and a Status Yellow (one level down from orange) warning in place for the cold temperatures being seen overnight and this morning.
Both warnings are in place until 12 noon today.
Dense fog is currently covering much of the country, while temperatures fell as low as -5 degrees celsius overnight and into this morning, leading to widespread and severe frost, particularly in Leinster.
So be careful out there, particularly if you’re on the road, fog and freezing conditions are a bad combination.
As for today’s forecast, Met Éireann says it’ll be “another cold and mainly dry day” with temperatures between 2 and 7 degrees this afternoon, and slightly warmer again along the south and east coasts.
The frost and fog mentioned above meanwhile will clear slowly across the day, although the fog “may linger” in some areas, particularly in the north.
It’ll be very slightly warmer tonight than last night, and likewise tomorrow will be marginally less cold than today, a trend set to continue across the weekend.
There is some happier news however – things are set to get milder from Monday onwards. So that’s good.
