A GAA CLUB is raffling off a house to pay for upgrades to their playing pitches.
St Eunan’s GAA club in Letterkenny, Donegal, is offering up the house to one lucky winner in a draw where the sum total of all the prizes is valued at €175,000.
While the house is first prize, there are also Mediterranean cruises, weekend breaks and €1,000 fuel vouchers up for grabs. Tickets are costing players €100.
In a statement which the club posted online, they said they want to build a state-of-the-art astroturf pitch which would mean they could train all year round.
The statement read: “We have 10 fantastic prizes up for grabs topped off of course by the chance to win a fabulous house in Rann Mór here in Letterkenny.
“We hope to further enhance our grounds with the development of a 4G Astroturf surface that will benefit not only St Eunan’s GAA club but hopefully also the wider Letterkenny and Donegal GAA communities.”
The club conducted a similar giveaway in 2006 where they gave away a house to make upgrades to their stadium. O’Donnell Park now has a 2,500-seated stand, six dressing rooms, a training pitch and an “ultra-modern clubhouse”.
The club is hoping to sell between 2,50 and 3,000 tickets ahead of the draw which is scheduled to take place on Easter Sunday, 16 April 2017.
