Met Éireann issues gale warning

Strong winds and the possibility of flooding in some areas have been forecast.

A GALE WARNING has been issued for today by Met Éireann, with winds of between 100 and 130 km/ph expected to hit the country.

The worst affected areas are likely to be exposed coastal and hilly parts of Connacht and Ulster. Some hail and thunder is also forecast.

The strong winds will result in very high seas, which may lead to flooding in some western and northern coastal areas.

Later this evening, winds will weaken and rain and drizzle will spread in from the northwest.
