Nearly 1,000 ESB customers are without power in Meath

The outage is affecting homes in the Oldcastle area.

Updated 4.40pm

ALMOST 1,000 ESB customers in the Oldcastle area of Co. Meath have been affected by a power outage today.

The outage started at around 1.30pm today due to a “fault”, according to the ESB’s power check website.

A spokesperson for the ESB told TheJournal.ie that the majority of people had their power restored by 3pm today.

While they are still working to restore power to the remaining customers, they currently do not have an estimated time for its completion.

A further 99 ESB customers in Cavan are currently affected by a fault in Killeshandra. It is expected that the issue will be resolved by 6pm this evening.

Yesterday evening, around 380 homes were left without power in Ballyfermot, west Dublin, after a fire at a sub station caused a fault which wasn’t fixed until this morning.

It’s funny that unlike the previous outage reported here that happened in Dublin early this morning that they didn’t have to rule out vandalism as a cause of it
