    I certainly am not planning any 3 day sessions for the next while, but a beer watching a game at home, or a glass of wine with dinner is fine. You know, normal, responsible drinking?

    Good God no. January is the longest coldest most miserable month. If their were ever a time we needed the comfort of the odd drink this is it. Abstinence is for lent, this secular month of penitence is just another example of health becoming the new religion.
    I wish everyone good health, and I’ll raise a glass to that!

    Gave up the liquor for January 1998, then stayed off it for the year, still off it 19 years later.

    One pint and 3 glasses of wine over the Christmas and new year, hardly a reason to give up drinking for January, far better for me to stop eating shoite and get out and about.

    I’ll certainly still have the odd beer and glass of wine. I don’t believe in making yourself miserable just because it’s January. As long as you dont binge I think small amounts of alcohol are probably ok.

    I don’t get it. You’re saying many people have drinking problems that isn’t their own fault? But they can’t afford to drink because of the government? Is it the governments fault they can’t drink or is it the governments fault they would like to drink? I’m very confused

    I refrained from excessive alcohol intake for the bulk of December and will consume more in January , started y/day and will continue today. Let everyone else make their “resolutions”, watch Operation Transformation and all that other rubbish.
