TODAY FM HAVE announced that radio presenting duo Dermot and Dave will be taking over the slot that until last month was filled by Anton Savage.
Savage’s position as the mid-morning host on Today FM ended abruptly with both sides insisting that the decision to end their relationship was theirs.
Savage had hosted his show between 9am-12pm on weekdays following Ray D’Arcy’s much publicised return to RTÉ.
Alison Curtis presented a show in Savage’s place following his departure, but Today FM have now confirmed that Dermot and Dave will move from the afternoon slot to the high-profile morning position.
The pair joined Today FM in 2014 after over a decade on Dublin’s 98FM.
Today FM’s CEO Keith McCormack says their show will begin on Monday 23 January and will be “a brand new show”.
“Dermot and Dave have a unique on air chemistry that listeners enjoy and interact with on a daily basis. They consistently keep the listener at the forefront of what they do and have an ear for a great story and what makes the people of Ireland tick,” McCormack said.
After the announcement, Dermot Whelan said that the show was a “very natural fit” for them and that it provides them with a “bigger available audience”.
Dave Moore said that their show, “is about having fun and that’s what we’ll fill the airwaves with”.
The decision to move Dermot and Dave to the mid-morning slot leaves a gap in Today FM’s afternoon schedule and the station has said that it will announce a new lunchtime show “in the coming weeks”.

I’ve been listening to Dermot and Dave for 12 years since they were part of The Morning Crew in 98 FM. Back then they had Siobhan and they were funnier. They still are but the Morning crew was magical. Maybe this morning slot will bring them back to their old glory. But ultimately, they belong to the commuting morning hours in my opinion.
Time to find a new station then. Anton was great craic.

Really miss Tony Fenton. A proper dj. Great knowledge of music. Every station now has only dimwits laughing at each others silly jokes.
Sad that he passed away but he didn’t have a great knowledge of music. Music extends beyond the top 40.
Most songs were in the top 40 at some point. He played from the 70′s up.
No Aidan most songs were not in the top 40 at some point.
Not sure their wacky style suits the slot. Anton was excellent.

For fup sake, they’re making things worse by the day. Can’t imagine I’ll be listening to these two muppets. Really flecked the place up dropping Anton. It’s the only station I’ve listened to since it opened, seriously losing time for it now
Partly because I was getting sick of the repetitive music choices and then because of the annoyance them ‘losing’ one of their better presenters, I’ve made the jump to internet radio.
Been listening to TodayFM since around 1999, but no more – already had the Tunein Radio app, an unlimited data plan on the phone, and a Bluetooth speaker and head unit in the house and car respectively, so no reason not to try it. No ads on BBC radio is also very attractive…

Dermot and Dave are absolutely atrocious, even their ads, with the stupid sound effects are enough to drive you to drink. They’re now advertising for a roadshow, who buys tickets for that sh*t?
People bashing the Double D need to accept that all Anton did was the exact same show as Ray D’Arcy but with more energy. At least the two boys are original and promote small Irish bands, giving a lot of them their first radio exposure.

As much as I like the lads I think today fm have missed a trick in letting anton savage think mayb the lads lost alot of follow on listeners when anton left
Will never listen to Today FM again or any of my wide circle of friends. ANTON WAS a super presenter and went out of his way to do live broadcasts outside of his radio slot. If this is down to music listen to YouTube or Spotify and stop rubbishing on.
They’ll be 100 times more entertaining than Anton. Problem now is, they don’t have anyone decent on their own books to fill their time slot.

Lets face it if you are listening to the music radio you are either stuck at work were you have to listen to it or else you have a bland taste in music and you say things like “i like a song with a good beat” etc. I’ve heard the lads and they do a good show but the music that they have to play is sh!te for the most part.
Dave used to do a great metal show on Phantom/TXFM on a Saturday night before it kicked the bucket. Unfortunately you can’t always play music you enjoy as a radio presenter.

Had stopped listening to darcy , just couldn’t handling the cringe any longer , when he left I thought I could start listening to that slot again , when I heard savage was in I nearly picked the core.
