UK deputy prime minister to visit Áras an Uachtaráin

Nick Clegg will meet with President Michael D Higgins during a visit to Dublin tomorrow.

UK DEPUTY PRIME minister Nick Clegg will meet with President Michael D Higgins tomorrow, Áras an Uachtaráin has confirmed.

The Liberal Democrat leader will visit the President at his residence during a trip to Ireland, becoming one of the first international dignitaries to be received by Higgins.

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond – currently embroiled in a political row over a referendum on Scottish independence from Britain – will also be received at Áras an Uachtaráin tomorrow afternoon.

Nick Clegg was originally due to visit Ireland in November, but the trip was postponed following the death of Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s mother.

Coincidentally, Enda Kenny is in the UK today where he will meet with prime minister David Cameron for talks expected to focus on the eurozone crisis, as well as British-Irish relations.
