1. #NAMA: The properties transferred by developers to their wives before Nama was set up can’t be touched, reports the Irish Independent. Nama only has the power to pursue assets transferred to relatives since December 2009.
2. #MINERS: A rescue shaft is nearing the Chilean miners who have been trapped underground in a mine for two months. Engineers have drilled down over 2000 feet, and once the shaft reaches the miners they will have to be winched to the surface one by one.
3. #SHAM: New guidelines on ‘sham marriages’ between eastern European women and non-EU nationals have been issued by the government, reports The Irish Times. The new guidelines require that all people getting married must have identification.
4. #SLUDGE: The toxic sludge which has spilled into rivers in the west of Hungary has forced officials to order the village of Kolontar to be evacuated, amid fears of another spill.
5. #HSE: The new Chairman of the HSE board, Dr Frank Dolphin,says that at least €100 million could be saved if absenteeism rates were halved.
6. # NATO: Gunmen from the Pakistani Taliban shot a rocket at a group of 29 Nato oil tankers this morning, causing a blaze which has yet to be extinguished.
7. #METRO: The final cost for the Metro North will reach €2.5 billion- a third less than originally expected- reports the Irish Independent.
8. #MISLAID: Gardaí in Tipperary were forced to frantically search for a missing gun and bullets after they were reported disappeared, but the gun and ammunition were eventually found in a locker.
9. #BANNED: A TV advertisement featuring golfer Pádraig Harrington cannot be shown again, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has ruled. The ad, for Optical Express, was banned after the BAI claimed Harrington’s testimonial “it could help your game too” was a falsehood.
