Dublin firefighters have rescued a cat from the Liffey

The “feisty feline” has been passed over to the care of DSCPA.

DUBLIN FIREFIGHTERS HAVE rescued a cat from drowning after it got into difficulty on the banks of the Liffey this afternoon.

Members of the Dublin Fire Brigade trained as rescue swimmers went out on a boat to save the cat, who was stranded out near Burgh Quay.

You can watch filmed footage of the rescue here:

The Tara Street firefighters were able to place what they called “the soggy moggy” into a pet carrier and pass the “feisty feline” over to the care of DSCPA.

The black and white beauty doesn’t look too happy, but what cat would be after being submerged in water?

Good thing the well-known cat-rescuers, aka firefighters, were on hand to pluck the cat from harm’s way (although this time it wasn’t from a tree).

@Darragh: To quote David Hogan in the first post above

“Only when man has pity on all living things is he truly noble.”

Do you actually understand what this means and what the implications are? And what it says about you? It looks like most understand this part of being human.

    Why would you bother?
Maybe because it’s a sentient being, just like you, who feels love, sadness and yes, fear, just like you.
Maybe because he deserves as much respect as any other being, human included.
And as such has a right to a life of safety, peace and order. Just like you.
    That’s why you would bother.
    Good enough for you?
