There was a drop in kidnappings, hijackings and robberies but a 6% increase in drugs crime.

In a note attached with the statistics, the CSO referenced the investigation into the number of garda breath tests carried out between 2012 and 2016. It said:

The CSO requested data on the 148,000 offences to establish whether any of these offences had been incorrectly included in the quarterly recorded crime data as additional incidents.

It concluded that “An Garda Siochana provided the details of the 148,000 offences and the CSO have determined that these offences do not appear to have affected the quarterly Recorded Crime series.”

I which our postwoman would stop destroying everything she crunches up and stuffs through the letterbox.

She also seems to just randomly shove other people’s mail into my letterbox.

    Wench.

I think a privatised postal service would have no problem going that bit further for some free publicity

I once sent a letter (by accident) to a person and his address on the envelope simply read (obviously I’m not gonna put the name here)

    *Man’s Name*
    Co. Waterford

    Take that Eircode!

The nite inside was a classic.
If you get this you live in a village…!

Obviously a decision between him and the sender about whether Buncrana is a town.

It is a town, by the way..!

They can do this yet over the past few weeks they have decided my postal address should be a town 16 km from my actual address. All mail now has huge stickers with ‘incorrect address’ on it and some deliveries have been delayed as a result. Odd the proper actual address was fine for years then all of a sudden its not.

I received a letter mailed to me from a health insurance company in the USA. It simply had my name and Dublin 6! How many people live in Dublin 6. It puts the USA’s postal service to shame. They return letters to sender for a one digit error in the postal code.

There’s a great postal service in Donegal.

My cousin sent a Christmas card home from Australia to her parents in Donegal and addressed it to “Mammy and Daddy” Townland, Town etc. It went round all the houses in the area till someone recongnised the handwriting. Made it though!! LOL

@ Tony Hartigan if you only had your name and Eircode on the letter then, as far as I have been informed, your letter wasn’t properly addressed and An Post are not obliged to deliver it. I’m sure a call to Comreg would confirm this.
