A cute and well-behaved dog is needed to star in an opera in the National Concert Hall this month

The dog does not need to sing.

THE SEARCH IS on for a small and cute dog with acting potential to star in La Boheme at The National Concert Hall this month.

The dog will need to be well-behaved and his owner will need to be prepared to go onstage in costume to look after him or her.

Award-winning opera director and producer Ellen Kent said, “People say never work with children or animals but I love to do both.

“The first time was 20 years ago when my pet cat Holly Go-Lightly was in one of my productions and was an instant hit. Since then we’ve had horses, dogs, goldfish and even a golden eagle with a ft wingspan on stage.

Many years ago when we last did La Boheme and asked local people to volunteer their pets it was a huge success. We even used a rescue dog once and found him dozens of new owners.

“We’re a nation of animal lovers after all. I’m sure there is plenty of doggie talent out there.”

A dog called Julius Caesar which belongs to the French soprano Olga Perrier, who sings the role of Musetta on the tour, is currently filling the position during the rehearsals in Moldova.

The romantic opera is coming to Dublin on Sunday 16 April.

To audition your dog send a photograph to Jules Bath: Jules@ellenkent.co.uk include your contact number and address as well as the breed, height, weight, age and name of your dog as well as a bit of info about your dog’s character.

@Fran Riley: avg salary in Ukraine is 188 usd/m and in ireland they get 220 per week + accommodation + food + education + bills that are capped at 30 euros/Month + child benefits and a council house without rent and an irish Passport in 3 years and discounted travel and no tax and insurance and many more so why not come here? thats why ireland has spent more than 3 billions on Ukrainians since the war started.

@Fr. Fintan Stack: so many numbers that we cannot accommodate under a roof and are kept in tents that means we have more than half a million arrived according to unofficial sources because the government will never declare and many came from safe countries like Canada Germany Poland and the rest. you can find this information on Ukrainian Facebook pages.

Absolutely ridiculous. Ireland should not be propping up any wars . I am disgusted with Martin and his warmongering.
We should be calling for peace talks

Any chance of peace talks or is it just send more and more military equipment. This war will go on for years and lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths.

@: russia does need to be defeated, and defeated so utterly that it wont be a threat to its neighbours again.

    Then we can have peace.

If we do not ensure that defeat of russia, then we assure further wars, and more death and destruction.

    Now is the time.
    Let’s get it done.
And he more help we give Ukraine, the faster it will be done, with the fewest Ukrainian deaths.
